The Glen Archer medal ceremony a little over the top???

Brian Harris thread.

Actually leads the league in marks from opposing teams kicks, and contested marks from opposing teams kicks. Also has 27 contested marks before this round, more than anyone at your club. Oh and this includes missing 2 rounds.
Also 41% of his possessions are contested.

I'll admit I find those stats surprising. I guess it's a shame he doesn't have more impact on the match if he's capable of taking so many contested marks.

Why is Gllen Archer rated sorry highly? Not trolling, I just want to know! I mean yea he plays with all his heart, never stops trying and has undying courage. But never really found that much of the pill and he himself admits he's not the best disposal. So why is he like the most pumped up player? Is it just the owners of the media know him or something?
Just watch a few games, it isn't that hard to work out.

Thats interesting cos before this round he had one less rebound 50 than your clubs leader (Firrito had 53, Harris 52). And missed the first two rounds. Also has our best disposal effiecency.

Is it not having an impact if you not only spoil opposing kicks, but mark them and then have the best disposal efficency in your team?

Not having watched many Dogs games this year, I'll take your word for it that he's dominating, and just had a flat day yesterday.

I also noticed at the whole Western Bulldogs playing list etc stayed on the ground and Archer didnt thank them or anything. Im sure he didnt mean it but i thought he would atleast thank them.

I think we're getting to the crux of why the thread was started. Not sure if you're aware, but some Footscray players (West, Grant, Johnson) have spent the better part of their adult life in or around Glenn Archer. Maybe their mate-ism took over.

Yeah that was a really cheap kick when he threw himself into the contest in the 1st 1/4, spoiled the mark, sprang to his feet, swooped on the ball and fed out a handpass. Cheap ?

It's called inspirational play. Fool.

Giansiracusa showed more courage than Archer in that contest. He came back with the flight with the ball.

Of course Harvey got no where near the admiration that Archer did - it was played in WA and St. Kilda have never been a family club - never!

Fact of life - Glen Archer deserved his time today - if you were at the game you could leave - just as the Bulldogs players did - half way through the ceremony.

Get over it - not many players have played the sport with the courage he has - for a few minutes suporters and TV viewers had to witness something that not many of us will see for many years.

A courageous champion getting some admiration from peers, supporters and general public. At least he's always been humble.

Unlike some of the other supposed champions????????????????????
Apart from that, deep down most of us know what kind of player wins you the coveted, or at least plays a part. Harvey is a great AFL footballer, statistically the record books prove that, but he's not Archer.

As a Kangaroos supporter I too thought it was completely over the top. Who cares if he's played 300 games and is tough, modest, humble and brave? Why do we waste our time glorifying players like Archer and Harvey and Johnson later in the year when there are only 3 pages of every newspaper devoted to players hanging out with strippers and criminal bikie gangs, or taking horse tranquilizers, or baring their arses to women in nightclubs. Surely these are the players we should be giving more attention to.
I would have thought the reputation of AFL footballers needs more attention payed to the positive sides of the game.

For Christ sake get a life.

Sorry Folks. Did not get to see the Presentation at the end of the game. Heard that Apparently all his Premiership Team Mates formed a Guard of Honour For him.

Was Wayne Carey their ??

A north supporter giving crap about finances. You have to be either stupid or very very young. We are in great shape compared to the Gold Coast Kangas:thumbsu:
I find all this talk re what superb financial shape the Dogs are in compared to us quite irritating.

Show me the evidence (preferably by reference to hard financial data).

The whole thing was stupid. Its not like he is a superstar player. God help us if Judd gets to 300.

We are budgeting for a profit this year.

The only part that was over the top was the dais. The Anzac Game has a full medal and trophy presentation and they don't have (or need) a seperate dais

speaking to a friend about this today and he pointed out some interesting facts:

-arch has never won a best and fairest

-has polled only 37 brownlow votes in his entire career (harvey has polled over 200!)

-never has he been considered in the top 10 players in the league (correct me if i am wrong)

He might be a champion bloke but he aint a champion player. Just a honest hard worker!!

Mate, yeah, just **** off.

lol lol. see it gets annoying when people like to repeat the same thing over and over again. now imagine how we feel when all we hear that our club are druggies and underworld criminals and that our club should be banned yada yada. archers a champ no doubt about it but ive never seen so much on a 300th in quite some time. more than riccutos or wests or smiths last season.

Its pretty hard to win a Best and Fairest when you play with Carey, Stevens, Schwass, Bell, Grant, Harvey, Martyn, Pickett, Longmire, Sholl, Blakey, Simpson, McKernan.

The Brownlow is a midfielders award. Who was the laste backman to win a Brownlow or even go close to winning it?

He has been a Champion North Melbourne footballer and only the second player to ever reach 300 games in our history.

The AFL didnt put on the celebrations, The North Melbourne football club did and it is up to us how we celebrate his contribution to football and our great club. If other teams dont want honour their champions like us then thats your perogative but dont have a crack at us for doing what we did.
