We absolutely kicked ourselves out of the game,,, and the consequences were almost catastrophic. Need to fix it up pronto. Young and Hale both concerns and Hodge with his illness also so it'll be a crucial week. No injuries reported from the rooms according to Triple M though :thumbsu:

Well we kicked ourselves out of the game and still won. Hopefully thats all the cobwebs out of the armour and its full steam ahead.
Injuries:
Ellis - looks gone
Hale - did he come back on after the concussion?
Silk - Looked OK after he came back on
Young - Looked OK after he came back on
Pup - Not his usual self and was the right one to sub.
Reports:
Didn't see anything that will go from our side.
Changes
Murphy very balanced, should hold his spot unless Guerra is right
Hodge for Ellis
If Hale is injured, Bailey
Pup to sub and Savage to start?

So should not have been heart in the mouth stuff if we had converted better and played a bit smarter, that said we won, we're in

Xman, Young, Hale all worries this week from an injury perspective.

Hodge, Goo possible ins not sure who stays or goes fitness going to be the big decider I reckon

I really hope Murphy is not dropped. He stood up when we desperately needed him.

It's Paupolo for me. He is just another piece in the strongest forward line in the AFL. I like he's desperation and style but having murphy down back is more important then having him cruising in the forward line.

Savage could be unlucky seeing he didn't get much time, but didn't deliver in the time he did get. I suspect he will stay in and be the sub again.

And Shoenmaker. I really don't know what to think about it. I know he has got some undeserved criticism this year. But he is a real worry, especially heading into a GF. its almost too hard/risky to play a back line with Stratton/Gibson/Murphy seeing as i don't think we have tried that all year.

Unfortunately we will stick with Shoenmaker and I'm not feeling great about it at all.

In: Hodge

Out: Puopolo/Ellis (INJ)

Few of things necessary for us to win next week:

- One or both of Hale & Roughead must play better than they did tonight, or Mumford will monster us. We can't afford to let their mids have first use.
- Franklin, I'm not sure if he's still suffering from the hamstring or not but he needs to step up and nail his set shots. Missing three gettables in a row tonight was inexcusable.
- Gunston. We've got to work him into the game more, something we've yet to do successfully enough with Franklin in the team.
- Hodge must come in and play at HBF is Shoenmakers plans on completely going to water as he's done the past two games.
- We really, really miss Guerra at kick outs. His return would be massive.
- MUCH more desperation from the entire team. We were well beaten in 50/50s tonight I thought. We need to spread better and switch play more too.
- Our bottom 6 must step up. I won't name who they are, but tonight we were carried by a handful of blokes and our worst 6 players all had shockers.
- More Aggression in general. You know the Swans will come out firing, we have to do the same.

Is it too late to do something to Shoenmakers?
Maybe play Roughhead back instead? He offered little up forward tonight with his mark fluffing. Still was pretty good in the ruck but anything would be a better option to having Shoenmakers play someone else into form.

He tends to go really well on Sam Reid, but the real problem today was how easily our midfield was opened up which meant that Walker/Tippett got a few goals on the lead running into loads of space.

Ins, outs, Meatloaf, whatever.

Haha, nice, first time I've laughed since around 5:15pm...

Hopefully, injuries are minimal or nil and the MRP puts the dartboard away. A lot of nervous indecision I thought tonight from players trying to make sure they are injury free to play in the Grannie rather than go the ball (perhaps they couldn't help but believe their press during the week no matter how much they tried to shut it out). I expect a much harder, desperate team for the big dance, now that they're there.

Hodge will come in for Ellis, hopefully Guerra comes in for Murphy. Not a great time to play a poor game Poppy, not that you were alone there, but you've put your hand up to ask the question do I get a game in the Grannie...

Ins - Shane Ellenmakers, Batmobile

Outs - X doesn't look like he'll get up

Seriously, Schoenmakers to the forward line. Roughy to ruck and a kick behind play, esp if Hale has a concussion. Cyril in the square with B-Cup Breust, Mitch and Sewell. (I think we should be permitted 5 in the square to say thanks for letting Sydney have an extra day's preparation. Like they needed any more help.)

Then again, there's a reason I'm not a football coach, and neither is Paul Roos, Terry Wallace or Jeff Special-Case Gieschen.

Adelaide played the corridor against us all night and it worked well for them. I thought our midfield was exceptionally poor defensively which didn't help either.

Shoenmakers has a knack of playing whoever's on him into career best form. Thankfully Reid isn't the most potent forward going around.. but then there's Goodes to worry about. If Shoenmakers is going to bring tonight's rubbish effort next week then we'll need Hodge to be 3rd man up throughout as he was in the 2008 GF.

It's likely to come down to a choice between either Murphy, Savage and Ellis. Who might have to make way for Hodge? Who would you pick to stay in the team out of Murphy, Savage and Ellis? It's such a hard decision to make for the selection commitee. There is going to be one unluckly player. :(

Thoughts?
