Is Ellis even injured, has there been any confirmation?

If Ellis is injured and Goo is ready, it will be:

Out: Ellis/Sav, Murphy
Ins: Hodge, Goo

Sav is much better when he starts the game.
I would like to see Savage start and make Puopolo sub.

IN
Hodge

Out
Ellis (if injured) Sav otherwise

Don't think goo will be right to go but if he is i would drop Sav/Ellis and keep Murph in. Lets Suckling play a more attacking role possibly on a wing/hff. Would much prefer Murph down back to him especially if Goo is back to take the kick ins

Hopefully Shoenmachers plays on Sam Reid, they are just as sh*t as each other

Unfortunately even Reid kicked his career best last time we played them. Schoenmakers may well cost us this grand final. He is like a piece of wet cardboard out there. Looks big and strong but is slow, uncoordinated and sloppy in every contest.

He tends to go really well on Sam Reid, but the real problem today was how easily our midfield was opened up which meant that Walker/Tippett got a few goals on the lead running into loads of space.

This is exactly right. Adelaide were excellent at creating space for their forwards. Delivery was very good as well, not high balls on their heads but smart kicks to their advantage and in space.

Get behind Schoenmakers people. Hawks simply do not have another 193cm key back kicking around with nothing else on next weekend.

when there is so much space in front of the forward you are in trouble as a backman. The way the ball was coming into our forward line any defender would struggle. I mean pav took geelong's rock of gibraltar whom i rate pretty highly apart in the first week because there was just no pressure on the ball carier and so much space in the forward line.

In saying that Schoey didn't have a good game neither did most of our backline seemed completely disorganised on several occassions. Its interesting because i think the swans have the pace on ball and around the ground to do exactly the same thing to us next week. I mean that is exactly the way they played Collingwood flooding back and kicking over the press to runners going forward. We have had a practice run lets see if we have learnt something to take into next week. Of course this is mitigated by us kicking straight :D.

Ruck & Defense have been our weaknesses for as long as I can remember, but Mitchell & Sewell aren't getting any younger.
Been saying this alot. Draft a KPD, Ruckman and a couple mids this year. By the time the ruckman and the KPD develop the current batch of them will be nearing the end other than Schoenmakers and Lowden.

Poppy did 2/5ths of f all tonight but he needs to stay in against the small in n under sydney players & bring the pressure. I'll back him in.

We despreately need Hodge for composure & leadership. Ellis may be unlucky, so to Savage. Close call.

I anticipate a far better mindset next week - its also very rare we kick that badly 2 weeks running - i'm still confident albeit very humbled by a terrific adelaide side...

I said to a bloke before the game - adelaide are a bit of a bogey side... first win, first finals win, tony halls knee, mcleods dribbler.... we got them in 07 but gee they are gutsy...

yeh i dunno... i'm just going to enjoy the week & take it all in - GF's are bloody hard to get to. Sydney are fantastic & deserve the choccies just as much - will be a beauty!

I agree, but is tonight's team the settled finals side we want?:rolleyes:

Two changes max.. Hodge definate and Goo if he gets up...I think we had a off night tonight, Crows should never had come close to winning this game.
Just an obversation also..2007 Cats had a tough Prelim againts the Pies and got over the line by 3 points, Port has an easy win over North.
Cats ended up winning by a record margin, my point being that there are times when a hard fought close game can be more valuable than a easy no contest game..
Swans had a easy game againts the Pies, we had a hard fought win againts the Crows that should of been a easy win..
We will be ready for the Swans and this side that played tonight, although not at our best still managed to get back in front and win, this tells me this group has faith and trust in each other and we shouldnt go too hard and drop players for sake of a Goo if he isnt 100%....

Glad that game has brought us all back to earth.

Will be interesting to see what we do with the swans. Gave them a 9 goal head start last time. Can't be doing that again.

When all said and done we played really badly against a good side and still won. Now time to take on another good side and bring our best. We played these guys a month ago - will. E very interested to see what has changed.

I reckon Murph played well tonight. He stood up and took a crucial mark later in the game that none of our other defenders were managing to do. Ellis most likely out.

Not since the Richmond game have we been sliced up as much as we were tonight. It's a real concern for next week, their forwards had way to much space to lead into. I also felt that they were a little fresher towards the end of the game too.

Having said that we still should have won by 4-5 goals if we had have kicked half decent, but we will need a much better balanced performance than tonight, that's for sure.

I grudgingly post here to wish the Hawks all the best for the Grand Final.

Gotta admire how your club has gone about it this year and I have felt they were always the team to beat.

Hopefully it'll be a cracking GF (I think it will be).

See ya in 2013.

Got me flights
Got me accommodation
Me tickets arrived Friday (booked back in march)

I'm right to go :thumbsu:

Think it's going to be a great game - best two teams all year. Going to be tough and surely we can't play like that again and that we are on song from the start and NO 6 goal head starts. Personally, on the sentimental side I hope Murphy gets a gig.

On tonight's game:

If Hodge & Goo back in, Ellis and Schoenmakers out.

But won't happen for obvious reasons, which is what really shits me about the whole Schoey thing atm. No matter how badly he plays he is pretty much undroppable because we've got nothing else in the cupboard. This really needs to be rectified in the off season.

Murphy will be really unlucky if he is dropped next week, was about 10 times better then Schoey, but if both Hodge and Goo are fit he will probably miss out.

Out: Ellis and Murphy or maybe Sav but don't know who plays sub then, maybe Poppy?
