Pies shouldn’t have to play at pissy little suburban grounds, if other venues are available. If the AFL had any balls they’d make Geelong play all their home games at MCG or Marvel. GMHBA is a s..thole.
Classic Collingwood elitist attitude there.

So if you've got GWS away, do you want to play them at the MCG too?

Nope, 36k~ is the limit for AFL games these days at the Gabba. Kardinia Park is supposed to be hitting 40k next season.
40k should be reasonable to host the big 4 apart from “‘marquee” games

No issues with us taking the trip down the highway again this year

As been mentioned already in the thread the frustration comes from other clubs seemingly never making the trip down while others basically only play the cats in Geelong

I know it’s hard to make happen with the current fixture and a lot of other external factors at play but ideally it should be every other game at all teams home grounds

If Richmond and Hawthorn are being sent down there, Collingwood & Carlton should too.

It’s actually a joke the Pies haven’t had to play us at our actual home ground since 1999, but that’s the AFL for you.
Carlton actually played down there a couple of years ago and won.

It's only collingwood now that hasn't been sent down since Covid. (and they haven't since 1999). Us not hosting them at the G would have been the perfect excuse. Would much rather have played Collingwood Round 1 in Geelong than StK .

i dont think you understand why people are complaining

its not about geelongs right to host home games in geelong.

its about the fact that some teams are pretty much exempt from playing at geelong. if you check how often any of the big 4 travel to geelong compared to other clubs you will see where the issues lies

and before you say it - yes i am aware it is for financial reasons
When was the last time Essendon played Collingwood or Richmond at the Docklands? Some games deserve a bigger stadium than KP or Docklands.

Adelaide play their home games in Adelaide.
Melbourne play their home games in Melbourne.
Sydney play their home games in Sydney.
Brisbane play their home games in Brisbane.
So logic says that Geelong play their home games in Geelong.
For some stupid reason people object to this.
Let's keep all the complaining in here.
Some of the reasoning behind not wanting to play Geelong in Geelong makes interesting reading.
St Kilda don't play in St Kilda
Bulldogs don't play in Footscray
Essendon don't play in Essendon
Carlton don't play in Carlton
Hawthorn don't play in Hawthorn
North don't play in North Melbourne
Collingwood don't even train in Collingwood

Why do Geelong have this entitlement that most Victorian clubs don't have?

St Kilda don't play in St Kilda Can't afford a stadium in St Kilda
Bulldogs don't play in Footscray Don't have the money to upgrade Whitten Oval
Essendon don't play in Essendon Thrown out of there by a bowls club
Carlton don't play in Carlton Carlton residents won't tolerate games there
Hawthorn don't play in Hawthorn Can't afford to
North don't play in North Melbourne Docklands is very close
Collingwood don't even train in Collingwood Chose to build the Lexus Centre, they could train and host in Vic Park if they wanted to.

Why do Geelong have this entitlement that most Victorian clubs don't have?

Given Essendon came down last year, Carlton the year before IIRC, Richmond next year, it seems reasonable to me.

Collingwood get a leg up but they always get a nice ride against us. Play every single game against the Cats at their home ground.

As long as the AFL won't give us 11 home games, we will always host two of the bigger drawing Vic clubs at their home grounds.

Pretty easy to afford it when you don't have to pay for it

I prefer watching Essendon get smashed by Geelong at KP than the G or Docklands.

So... it is true.
Richmond are receiving both State and Federal Govt. funding for Punt Rd Oval's redevelopment to up its capacity to 8,000(LOL) which is basically used for nothing on a national level apart from AFLW.

Was that the game where you destroyed or merely smashed us in the first quarter? I have light undiagnosed PTSD over both games.

Yeah, I was sitting in that tiny little bay the Essendon supporters were put in. Hard to get a ticket to that game.

Saw Weiderman play perhaps the worst game I have seen an AFL player play - the Bomber fans around me were not impressed.
