Let me just say this, I am a huge fan of Buddy, I think he is the best player in the AFL, but tonight he was soundly beaten by Bock.

Buddy had a good last quater, covered alot of ground but he was pantsed for 3 qtrs and then broke even in the 4th. Come the end of the game all the commentators get a semi over Buddy and his game.

Bock was huge tonight but come the end of the game he is not getting any judos.

Franklins hit, to me is a pretty clear cut thing, he has to go, for mine, it is pretty similar to Burtons, not much in it but stupid. The commentators are already claiming its only a glancing blow etc etc. Its like they are trying and willing to get him off.

I may be just frustrated but right now I am over the buddy love.

The commentators always love him, though I think they did give Bock his praise. Admitted he beat him, also said they thought Bock should have stayed with him when he moved to the wing because he was beating him that well.

In terms of the report, I think he'll get off. Wasn't one of the big hits, after seeing Goodes get of I think Buddy will be as protected, if not more so than Goodes so I think he'll be fine.

Ahhh, thank you. Finally a thread I can join without feeling guilty for disliking Buddy! He had a shocking game tonight, soundly beaten by Bock.

I agree that the first three quarters were terrible. Last quarter he made an effort because he was given the opportunity to roam around. He was REPORTED because he was frustrated. The commentators stated he was being beaten convincingly, but at the end of the game, they still praised his efforts for trying in ONE QUARTER!

In my eyes, yes he does great things from time to time, but its not great when its inconsistant.

Buddy didn't play a bad game- Bock just gave him a bath.

I'm over hearing about the bloke. His talent is undeniable but I'm over the football media trying to convince me he shits rainbows. Plus, he's killed us a couple of times and been every bit the arrogant prick each time.

The best thing about Buddy? We've got Bock. This could be better than Carey - Jackovich.

Doughty / Farmer
Bassett in the showdown
Goodwin 2 weeks ago

I'm worried :(

If he gets off there needs to be a serious explination given to Burton, Burgoyne and Murphy as to why they got done but Goodes and Buddy (Supposed Stars of the game) get off

I bet ya Hawthorns defence is "Buddy pulls crowds" you let him off you get more money simple as that and the AFL who are greedy money hungry pigs will jump all over that! like ants at a picnic with unwrapped food left out!

Pantsed  Please. Would have been a different story had he kicked straight. You all know it. Delivery was awful to him too.

Wow- this isn't at all predicable.

Buddy was pantsed and didn't kick straight because he was pressured into the tough shots each time. You know it.

The thing I liked was how lazy Buddy's chase was when Bock ran off him. The blokes a gem when he might kick a goal but if it's a chase down to keep the ball in your forward half he just isn't interested. I would call him a glory boy with the heart of a pea who doesn't have the work rate to rebound from a serious injury and keep his star status when his pace deserts him but the flame war just isn't worth it.

He kicked one goal!

Doesnt matter if he didnt kick straight, he is still getting the praise, we didnt kick straight, give us the 4 points.

Bock killed him, the only time he got near it was when he went up the ground to get a kick.

Bock beat Franklin all day - he was the man to beat Buddy - excellent job - prevented Franklin from having any real opportunities. But the only reason Franklin will get any suspension is because of how soft the AFL is... he intended to hip and shoulder the chest but bloody Ossie tackled the Crows guy and Buddy hit him a little high. Ideally and if you look past the loathing of Buddy... he should get nothing more than a reprimand/reduced points by accepting early guilty plea (as perhaps Burton should have gotten - I dunno as I didn't see the incident in question).

But I'm sure a few of you will shoot me down and say I am just protecting Buddy.... but you think you were unlucky with Burton... try being a Hawthorn player in the line of fire this year - you don't get a very fair adjudication or leniancy as afford some players (Goodes anyone?). We have to live with that, but it just wouldn't be right for Buddy to go for that.

Franklin is an awesome player..... but.............
The w***ers in footy writing positions are .ucking knobs. Im .ucking sick to death of hearing about him. Hes a .ucking footballer for .ucks sake. He doesnt save lives. Tha way they glorify footballers makes me sick. He can kick and mark a ball!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! PERSPECTIVE.
He is an excellent FOOTBALLER. end point
ps he'll get off nothing in it at all...infact if osbourne hadnt tackled him he wouldnt have hit him high.Couldnt avoid contact.
andy maher your a ____head. look at the footage before rioli gets tackled he did the same thing to johncock? the stevens one was a bad call def, so was the tippet one. You never hear them whinge when we get poor umpiring week in week out in general. vic knob.

That's an absolutely shocking call. The bloke is a superstar, been consistent all season. Tonight he was beaten by Bock, and still had 7 shots on goal. Today would be his worst game for the year, all good admitting he was beaten, and he didn't play a good game, but saying he is inconsistent is just stupid.

Sorry to hijack but just wanted to add the unbiased hawthorn view that bock had the better of him tonight, thought he should have followed him up the ground in the last quarter though. Buddy had his usual 8 shots on goal, set shots, snaps, on the run, but every one on one when the ball was in the air bock had the better of him, and then ran off him a lot. Bock had midfielder type number of touches tonight and thought were probably all effective.

I don't think buddy will be rubbed out but then again i didn't think or want burton and rob murphy to be either so he'll probably go for one or two. Good game tonight.

Mate, I agree, there was not much in it, I am just saying with the rules the way they are, he has to go.

BAAAAAAAAHAHAHAHA :thumbsu:
I needed cheering up too , dude :D

you are not hijacking the thread mate, Im interested in what the hawks supporters have to say. I know he had 8 shots on goal, but alot of them were tough shots. Defenders dont mind their players having shots from where he was.

I kind of hope he doesnt go for his hit as it may restore some faith the game with Goodes also getting off but I know if he does I will also be spewing.

I'm sick to death of the media coverage in Victoria about Franklin. That's not his fault mind you. It's just every season they seem to pick up on a certain player and go with it.
I look forward to what all those wise football scribes and radio commentators say this week.

Bock was too good tonight, the Adel backline played terrific and deserve the praise (they went in with a game plan, and it was executed very well)....
however, one observation I do have is around Michael Dougherty....outside of the report, I noticed him throwing his head back whenever he was tackled (don't believe me? go look at the game and check when he is tackled.......he did get 3 frees tonight)

If i have missed something here, happy to be enlightened....just not the typical sort of player I would expect coming out of Adelaide....

Buddy didn't have the best game but still dominated when it counted. In the air, one on one Bock won. Bock was the better player tonight but Buddy still could've had 5 if he kicked straight. The guy is a freak. He got his only goal when it counted and basically influenced the game when it was deadly even. Bock AA CHB easily.
