Usman should cop some heat. Hung McSweeney out to dry imo.

Smith is finished.

Our whole setup needs reviewing. More red ball domestic cricket for our ivory tower dwelling, willow wielding spuds.
The state of our batting.

With very little in the Shield to have much confidence in also.

Go back to the 90s and 00s when even the second Australian XI are good enough to beat most teams at that time. Matthew Wade would've never gotten past district level let alone make it to TAS or VIC teams let alone the Australian team. Heck Bancroft and Harris wouldn't been good enough to make it to Shield level let alone the Australian team, that tells you all the direness of Australian batsmen at Shield level when guys like them are in Shield level as no one at the moment is banging down the door, not even McSweeney is banging down the door too.

Was at the cammy and had witho, gaff and witho next to us. Simmo came on tv and gaffy was booing him ahaha

Can’t think of many players with less reason to boo Simpson than Gaff

If there was a batter that sold his partners down the river it was Labuschagne- total inability to rotate the strike and keep the scoreboard ticking over to put pressure back on the bowlers

Was at Optus today and the crowd definitely were giving it to him in terms of Bronx cheers. I thought Jack Darling was on strike at stages…

In all seriousness though your post is spot on. All he was looking to do was leave the ball and occupy the crease. Didn’t even want to look to score freely or at a minimum just get off strike. Of course he torched a review too. Smith and him just never think they’re out even though both were absolutely plumb today.

Smith and Labuschange have been doing this for the past few years.

Chewing up balls without moving the score along, which just adds more and more pressure to whoever is batting with them.

lol

Yup I was there......he was embarrassing . worst innings I have seen from an Aussie number 3 in years

It was tough batting out there, plus McSweeney would have all the first test nerves.

Anybody think India possibly just let Usman have an easy single first ball to get the new kid on strike? Nah, they wouldn't think of doing that would they.

It's still a team sport and Usman didn't try and do anything to support his new partner. It's hardly like Ussie made the most of it...he scored less than McSweeney after leaving the bloke to face all the heat.

All the sink and swim crap is as outdated as a footy coach giving the boys a "good old-fashioned spray". It's a team and every player should be doing their best to help their team mates express their best cricket. Just another example of the Aussie senior players looking after themselves as first priority.

Usman, Labuschagne and Smith just served up more of the same old imo. The sooner we start looking to the future the better. Need young blood in the side and to take our lumps as they develop at the level. The shield set up clearly can't deliver mature players that can plug and play anymore. We need to put the core of the best young talent together and let them grow as a unit together.

NB - I love Ussie and reckon he'll be our top scorer for the series again. I just think he got it wrong out there yesterday.

I just think you got it wrong TBH.

As has been mentioned, he's opening the innings, it's his job.
You can't hide, it's test cricket.

As shit as it is watching us get pumped, from a cricket enjoyers perspective, it’s been a pleasure to watch one of the great fast bowling spells.

Bumrah is breathtakingly terrifying.
