Nice to see Jhye and Morris in. Very strong bowling attack which is good, because the batting is pretty shaky with a number of guys in poor form at the moment.

Miserable day of test cricket. After the first 5 over the bowlers looked relatively uninspired and unthreatening outside of the odd half chance.

Feel like we'll be chasing 400+ and get rolled pretty cheaply.

Need to talk about Khawaja's dropped catch. An hour from stumps it's the sort of catch that gets you 2 or three quick ones and momentum. He dropped it because he was in freaking la la land with the rest of his mates and wasn't ready for it. Didn't get close to getting his fingers under it.

Was it the first test between NZ and India where it also went from looking tricky on day 1 to being an absolute road for the rest of the match? Don’t often see if change so drastically like this

Historically the Optus pitch is a batters dream for Day 2/3 and then becomes a minefield to bat on from day 4 onwards... there was one test a few years ago where batting on Day 5 was borderline dangerous. Can't remember who it was against, I feel like it was either the first test against India or the D/N test against the Kiwi's.

The team batting last has lost every test so far at Optus, and only once has a team passed 200 in the 4th innings (WI in 2022 made 333).

Granted, it is a small sample size of 4 tests.

I think it might’ve been India. Vaguely recall a few people getting smacked

A couple of balls in the last hour showed some signs of variable bounce.

Whelp, what a dismal day of cricket. Worst I've seen live.

Thought Hazlewood was excellent with the ball, beat the bat repeatedly. Other than that, Cummins was below par, Starc pretty nondescript outside the Khawaja drop, and Marsh's bits were poor. The energy in the field was non-existent. Cummins' body language appeared pretty poor from the stands for much of the day.

Full credit to Jaiswal and KL though, batted us out of the game with discipline. Great first effort by a youngster on Oz soil.

Australian cricket team is way to old, they need to drop Cummins, starc, Hazelwood, lyon, marsh, and a number of the other elderly statesman. Lets bring in youth we have a number of potential stars who are under 22years of age.
