What a campaigner. That was going straight to Uzzie

Seems like we’ve had a few blokes over the last two decades come in to the side past thirty and really thrive. Hussey, Rogers, Harris and Voges just to name a fewScott Boland similar career trajectory to Stuart Macgill*
Will always be a question of what he could have been if he wasn't just the backup.
*On-field only
Good for cricket fans but in years gone past Australia in a situation like this with a draw needed to cement a a series victory would have dished up an absolute road.
Feels like deja vu starc playing injured and getting pumped then losing the BGT .

His record at the SCG is also pretty ordinary. That may be tied into the above but its not like it's his best ground to bowl at even if it is his home deck.Well Aus aren’t getting pumped, but the Starc thing is very frustrating. It’s quite well established at this point that his performance in long test series deteriorates in the later tests. He averages 41.8 in the fourth and fifth tests of a series, and this is a guy who’s been playing test cricket for nearly 15 years. This isn’t a small sample size issue, he just tires as the series goes on. I don’t blame him for that or anything; some guys’ bodies will just hold up worse under the continued bowling strain than others. It’s not like Australia has had the big three and then a pile of crap; at various times throughout the past decade there have been excellent domestic quicks like Pattinson, Jhye, Boland, Neser, Paris and so on.
I can’t imagine that an organisation as large and well-funded as CA don’t know that Starc gets worse as the series goes on, so I assume they keep selecting him in these situations out of some misguided sense of loyalty, or because they can’t grasp that the best bowler overall may not be necessarily be the best bowler for the next test.

That’s a really shit way to get out and tbh, if that’s the rules they should be changed. Don’t think you should be out for that
Bonus points if it's us doing it to BairstowLOL next up peg it at the batters head, he dives out of the way, wickie catches it stumps him.

Hard disagree. Get back in your crease. Cop the blow if you have to, but that's every bit as legit as the Bairstow thing last year. (EDIT: year before)
The laws were changed to make that scenario not out.Ahh yeah, I didn't see the slow motion replay properly the first time, thought his back foot was in and when jumped the ball.

True enough. In years gone past Australia had a series wrapped up well before the 5th test
And in any case, we don’t have a history of preparing wickets to suit an agenda - that’s more an Indian thing
It’s telling that our best bowler in this test, Bowland, has done the least amount of bowling whilst Bumrah is now also a fitness concern for the Indians
Runs on the board are going to be crucial which is why ep2018 is correct in saying it was an important toss to win
Rather be India than us right now even if Bumrah isn’t fit to bowl or is below his best if he does
