Yeah, I'd read that. It's what made me add the disclaimer on the end. I will follow it up.

That is absurd that it has to seperated between normal rookies and rookies from other sports.
It's penalising those guys who have had the dream of playing afl all their lives for lets call them novelty acts.

exactly right, some have trained their whole lives to get to the AFL and now more than ever we see mature aged players get their chance. However, the AFL pushes for expansion in hopes more international stars will develop and more $$$$ for their pockets. Ben Ross > Rugby convert/Yank

You can now also sign rookies as free agents who are about to go into their 3rd year (eg Mullett) but won't be elevated by their current club.

What happened to the AFLPA (?) push to remove the rookie list altogether? I know there may be concerns the salary caps will increase to unsustainable levels, but why not retain the salary side of things, but remove the impediment to them playing games unless they are 'upgraded'. Stoopid.

I'd trade both H and Pederson if we were given decent offers.

Then I'd chase Stefan Martin. Would give us ruck coverage if Goldie went down. Also could be used on the bigger forwards and if they ruck he could follow them and give Goldie a rest instead of Petrie. Can play as a forward us well if we loose one or two forwords. Very athletic and mobile.

- Freo would be insane to do that trade.
- Why would Taz leave? Why would Yarran leave? (people tend to forget that the players have a say in all this) Poor deal for Carlton anyway.
- GC don't need ruckmen. They have 4 very promising ones already.

i like your thoughts but i think hawkins has more upside then tarrant so straight swap seeing geelong need to rebuild
i think black is great but gunston has showed a bit more so swap them even
Daw is great like a younger nicnat..so swap them maybe our 2nd rounder aswell
Harvey is a champ so maybe we can take Fyfe for him afterall fremantle are making there charge now

If the rumors about Pedo and Collingwood are true and we are only offered pick ~40, then we should tell them both to get stuffed and keep Pederson on our list for next year.

I have had a gutfull of this club strengthening the lists of clubs that are going to be our finals rivals in upcoming years.

I agree, Pedo offers a lot of upside for certain teams and is ready for AFL level. late 20's would make about even. So pies start swapping to get an earlier pick

Hey that extra pick may allow us to get say a Caddy, we'd have our 2nd ruck and be better off. If you're suggesting H would make Geelong a better side than us, I'm then thinkin' they already are.

That's black bit is the key. Unfortunately Hanks 100 odd games in ten years has definitely devalued him.

Simpson would be our backup ruckman. Being left with Mabon and Daw as backup is the main reason people are against trading H. Simpson can really play, by the way, which is why I doubt the rumour is true.

Yeah he can Daz, and is one aggressive mofo as well. Reckon he might of had a word in Lynch's ear after he near killed Loose. I agree though, can't see it happening. But thought the rumour is news worthy enough for our board.
