Quite incredibly, we have the third best percentage in the league despite sitting in twelfth.
Shows how close the season is, when a percentage of 115 is third in the league (very nearly second) after 12 rounds.

Jono Brown pointed out on On the Couch last night that the Lions are the number 1 team in the AFL over the last 6 weeks in 3 key areas >

#1 in Points from turnover differential, ball movement and contested possessions.
3 wins, a loss, a draw and a bye over that 6 week period.

Yes, we just have to be able to get to the finals somehow... if we can do that without any further significant injury setbacks I think we are right in the flag hunt considering there is a pre finals bye for a rest and reset.

FWIW IMO the teams to beat for the flag are the Swans obviously and still the Magpies who have very good players to come back into the side, besides them it is a very even competition, at our best we can beat anyone.

The one above was from before the Dogs game.

This is from this morning from Wheelo on Twitter who is respectable in the stats part of AFL Twitter.

While its great to talk about what could have been, I think these definitely show that we are still in a good position to be able to have a genuine crack next year no matter how this year goes.

We are still playing at a good level in a lot of areas and have had shit luck, but it doesn’t mean the window has been slammed shut at all.

Outside of Pies and Swans; I’d be pretty confident of playing away against anyone else particularly someone like Essendon who’d be packing themselves at the prospect of playing us. Obviously we’ve just got to get there

Small sample size, but Logan Morris is currently averaging very similar numbers to Jeremy Cameron did in his first year.

While Cameron averaged more touches per game, Morris is still averaging the same amount of shots per game (and would have likely had more goals per game if it weren't for wearing Wills shoes and playing a game earlier the same day of his debut!).

The figure I am most impressed with is his marks per inside 50. Given he is a third tall and often not used, he is still averaging 1.8 marks inside 50 a game.

In comparison, our leading key forward Joe Daniher averages 2.5 a game.

A very exciting future ahead for Morris if he can continue to develop.

For the draft watchers, how many tall forward prospects were taken before him ?

He looks like a certain non-bust,just how good to be revealed.
Essendon traded up to get that Caddy kid at pick 9 or 10 and from my limited viewing, McMorris looks a better prospect. Even if Caddy is an upgrade, doubt anyone can say he is at this stage, Bombers still paid a lot more than what we did.

Btw, I’m not a draft watcher but Caddy is the only one outside of Suns top prospect that is a tall forward that I know of. Briztoon will know.

Hoyney from CD was talking up Wilmot today,is around 50 for top ranked players. Was his opinion he could move into the middle 12-18 months.Could make sense with Kiddy back and possibly an ever improving Brain or Beecken to come in

Yeah so about 3rd while the other clubs concentrated on other needs,or maybe didn’t see a lot in him.Lucky for us.

You’re also probably drafting a second tall forward so diminishes the appeal somewhat.

That Archer Reid pick was the pivotal one, West Coast took him one pick before us at pick 30.

From what I remember we were open to taking either Archer Reid or Logan Morris, with Archer Reid sort of preferred. Once he was taken, we went with Logan. Couldn't be more happier right now.

Fox Footy certainly think we're back- moved from 12th to 4th in the weekly Power Rankings.

Nah, win this week which everyone expects us to do vs Saints at Gabba. If we manage that, next week is the pivotal 8 point game for us. If we manage to beat Port at Adelaide, then yes, we'll be on our way.
