G'day lads. Good idea having a positives thread this season whoever came up with it! My positive over the last couple weeks is we seem assured of finishing bottom 2 now and picking up McCartin or Wright. Reading over a couple of the threads it seems there's a bit of sentiment around a single draft choice not being the saviour of a club and whatnot but in this case I think picking up one of those 2 boys is critical to our future.

Putting aside the shenanigans associated with a board chock full of property developers with eyes on things other than football the actual list isn't in devestatingly bad shape. The defence seems quite strong with succession plans in place. Probably need to invest in a true quarterback type player over the next year or two but the mobile, skilled talls we've got developing are a bit exciting. Our midefield lacks an extractor but we've landed a couple steals in rich and aish, rocky is taking a stranglehold on the future captaincy and there's a bunch of really good young players like hanley, redden, zorko, taylor and beams coming along. Rucks we will hopefully have a fit leunberger and martin next year with west in support and archie developing nicely. Forward it's sweet with Paps, Mayes (if he ever plays forward again) or Bewick on the flanks and Green getting increasingly better in that small fwd role. Merrett and the resting ruck are two of the talls but we are missing that true KPF. Draft one who can play (McCartin and Wright are the only real two options outside swingmen) and we'll be back in business before long. Who knows there's a chance even close, paine, lisle or even mcguane might come good. Paine after all was touted as a potential first round pick prior to the draft and close has the attributes, just needs time.

Surprised to see we are 7th on the corporate income ladder: Brisbane – 11.25 million (down from 11.7 million) (courtesy of The Wookie on the footy industry board). And although our crowds are not large they are decent. Our income appears to be middle of the road , wonder why our losses are so large?

Tom Rockliff is surging up the Official AFL player ratings. Now up to no.33. I think the positive out of this is that it shows he's getting closer to being recognised as an elite player by the entire afl competition and not just our club and it's supporters.

It seems like opposition teams are tagging quite a few of our guys now at various times. And it seems like they are beginning to find that when one is tagged there are a couple of others to worry about. I actually think we might just be showing signs of being a hard team to match up on. Rockliff, Zorko, Hanley, Aish, Rich, Beams all look like they are dangerous enough to tag during a game. Taylor, Zorko and Green will give coaches nightmares in years to come. North seemed to struggle getting the right size and speed matched up against us quite often. Good to think that opposition coaches might soon be adjusting their team selections in fear of how we could hurt them.

First time during the Leppalution that our switching of play across the ground, positioning and support of teammates has resembled exactly what he wants it to be. Less so in the 2nd half during the wet weather period which is expected.

Well done lads!

Very evident at the game - lots of hard running from side to side and excellent spread.

Love how the play goes in waves and uses the corridor when available too. Cool to watch when executed well.

Estimated salary per win to date in 2014.

Paul "Mastercoach who makes Alex Ferguson look like Mark Neeld" Roos: $375,000.

Justin "Shit Gameplan is Shit" Leppitsch: $112,500.

Estimated Savings = $1,050,000.

EDIT: P.S. Go Doggies, I can't be buggered revising this post today.

33 still seems really low IMO. Top 30 at least you would have thought. Rock doesn't seem like the type that would care though, he's been underrated his whole career.

Stefan Martin AA form. Huge positive. Obviously he won't make AA as he missed far too many games but he would be close to the best in the comp if you looked purely at the last 5-6 rounds.

Watching a replay of the second quarter I noticed just how much good stuff Harwood did. Some ordinary disposal in there as well but real footy smarts and impact on the game at times. He is starting to look more like a regular best 22 I think. Not quite an automatic selection just yet but getting there.

Hopefully he has more improvement to come yet.

I really liked his game apart from two very sloppy kicks which he just jabbed at and from memory weren't too costly but his long kicking was a real feature.

Hanley, Harwood and Bewick were the instigators of the second term revival for mine.

Close, Gardiner and Clarke. All a good size and plenty of skills. Clarke is solid and strong down back, and I have warm feelings for Close. I think he will be a good footballer. Through the glory years we had 3 gun forwards, who on any day could virtually interchange positions. Lynch, Brown and Bradshaw were unbeatable pretty well. Throw in McRae and there is the core of a champion forward line. So now we have the mozies, all of who are up to it I think, and Close. We need to fill a couple more big man spots, then that's it... we win. I think Lisle is toast unfortunately. Also Lester and Bewick are getting there... Beams is a gun... his kicking is as damaging nearly as Rich's. Go Lions.

IF we can keep the players on the list:

Aish, Taylor, Gardiner, Robbo, Cutler, McStay, Paparone, Close, Mayes, Clarke will all be around 20-21 by end of 2016 and should all have between 30 and 80 games under their belt.

Harwood, Green, Redden, Zorko, Rockliff, Rich, Beams, Golby, Obrien will all be mid 20s

Hanley, Leuey, Bewick mid to late 20s

Add a couple from the draft, it should be a very young but experienced side. I think next year we will still face challenges but the following year we will see an upward spike.
