For me, the equation is pretty simple-
A) Finish last, have to deal with a 3rd spoon in a row but get access to the best kid in the draft without having to trade with West Coast (bend over and take it up the arse) like we would if we finished 17th and in the future watch the career of a kid who could be one of the best players in the league.

B) In the future watch potentially one of the biggest marquee stars of the next generation play in someone else's colours, but console ourselves with the fact that grinding out a meaningless dead rubber round 24 win against an expansion side with a caretaker coach at the helm, in order to give players (many of whom will be tipped out at the end of the year) a fleeting sense of "pride", and present slightly better optics to oppo supporters, most of which want to see us die anyway, was the course of action that felt spiritually right at the time.

For those who feel like alot of us are "accepting" or even "cheering" for another last place finish need to accept that it is more a case of acknowledging and coming to terms with the fact that it is the better of the two ugly, lamentable outcomes in front of us.

If those first round picks are 2 and 3 then maybe.

Well that highlights a big issue for us imo, taking players based on draft position rather targeting positional players to fill our gaps. Can we win our next flag with a team of elite mids and fringe players making up either end? I doubt it

The way we are atm we be lucky to be our own AWFL side.
We have gone backwards as a club and players will delisted at seasons end that happens but what about admistrators and coaching staff.
If this not a wake up call to Hood Watt Clarkson and Viney to do something then they never will.
So instead of having these Linkden leadership lunches start practicing what you preach unless your scared to.
You need to sack the following
Brady Rawlings
Gavin Brown
Kevin White
Damien Monkhurst
Then who ever is the Fu:kwit Strengh and conditioning guy he needs to go as well.
With Leigh Adams and John Blakey job in doubt.
If any of these above people are still there next year then prepare for the 2024 spoon as well

Agree. Clarko needs to get the best of the next generation of assistant Coaches to work with the young group not just for development of young talent and refinement of our game plan, but also with an eye on a succession plan. Four years will come along fast, and in a quite possible scenario of no Premierships and limited finals visits, we will be looking for a Clarko replacement and don’t want another shit-show of rushed, unplanned coaching decisions. We should be developing players and also nurturing our next Senior coach.
