I just watched the highlights and even they were exciting. Leadership at its best by Cummins. A captain who hates losing and is driven by success. What we desperately need at the Saints.
He came in with us needing about 75 to win. Lyon came in at 8-230 odd and I thought we were stuffed but they held their nerve despite the pressure.

I thought Carey and Cummins made a distinct change to their gameplan during the run chase too. We weren't chewing into the lead with any momentum and so they started really going for it. It caused a few near wickets and ultimately cost Carey his wicket but I thought it helped swing the momentum back our way - in that they probably thought they can block every ball and die wondering or they can take it to the English bowlers and see if changes the way they approach the game. Carey hit 14 off one of the overs before he went out and before you knew it we were right back in the game.

Thought Cummins played superbly too, his shot selection was first class and he picked when to be aggressive and when to sit back really well. A few surprisingly good shots by Lyon along the way and we were home.

I don't watch much cricket these days but I had kept an eye on the 1st test and glad I stayed up for day 5. It was incredible.

Most f*cked thing I’ve read in the past 15 minutes

Natural selection really, just like BASE jumping. People who do this stuff are adrenaline junkies who are willing to pay stupid amounts of money to put their own lives at risk. Doesn't really damage anyone else (though the ridiculous cost of the rescue here is pretty bad). Not sure why everyone's getting so worked up about it.

I agree. As does his stepson hahaha

If they find them, I guess the billionaire campaigner can pay for the search.
Just quietly the deepest succesful sub rescue is 460 metres.

This crew is somewhere between 3000-4000 metres down.

If they find them (and that is EXTREMELY unlikely id say) they wont be capable of doing much at all.

I work with someone that cave dives, it is adrenaline but also the whole mystery aspect is just enticing. Like say, I am a space nut and I know that up there we are still mapping and guessing and down here we still have NFI what's actually in the deepest parts of our ocean, so that sense of exploration, that sense of wonder of being the first or the few that actually saw the storms on Neptune or were in a device and braved the trench, how can you not be filled with wonder about it?

Of course, I also know my own limitations and if my body fails under normal sort of duress I am doing SFA in those things outside of being a burden regardless, so it's all fanciful on my end. Guys that base jump and free climb and such, that's just natural selection as you state, in there for the thrill of it, but if you think that the deeper you go the older the earth is and the closer you are to the creation of it all, that's not doing it for the thrill of it.

Cost wise, is just, I get the why, but much like Ukraine, just do it when it's right you know.

I had never considered the benefits of being in charge of a parents funeral. You can make sure it doesn't clash with any cool events you want to see.

Imagine being the guy who schedules his mothers funeral on Grand Final day.
He's only a stepson anyhow. Probs CGAF.
