I think i have been pretty clear on the issues i see with it. I want all the info and want something that will bring real change

But to many people it quite simply isn't

But apparently if you're think of voting anything but yes
You're racist
You want the status quo to remain
or you have a tin hat on

I don't think I have suggested anything that would make you ask that question
I think I made the point that if you’re advocating for a no vote then you’re either a cooker or a racist. Not that if you’re just not sure yet. I may have worded that poorly.

Aaaaand this is why you don't discuss politics. At the end of the day it won't get up anyway.

I think it might, the no seems to be smaller in comparison, it'll be the "double" instance where they need more than normal that might kill them.

And the more this gets discussed the more I want to know what Malcom wants to say about it for shits and giggles.

Seems almost assured of failure at this point.

Fair point, but the original discussion was whats the worst case scenario versus the potential benefits.

I still maintain there really is no downside (aside from some sunk money, which, honestly, that is fun tickets in parliament and im cool with losing a few bucks in pursuit of better outcome for First Nations Australians). The alternative really is to change nothing which i think were all agreeing is not a good outcome.

I havent indicated youre advocating for the status quo but as much as i like your suggestions, theyre not on the table, the voice is. Not getting the voice isnt likely to mean you get Treaty instead, in fact id argue not getting the voice effectively buries any potential progress on the matter at all.

I really dont see how the voice is a risk, its an advisory body, that all, it provides advice and i dont think anyone, anywhere is calling is a magic cure for anything. It really is a baby step that might assist in getting direct advice and prioritizing issues for Indigenous Australians or it might do absolutely nothing.

I'm really failing to see any risks as well, and i'm probably voting Yes, because it seems a waste to go to all the effort of the referendum to do nothing.

The political power of the Voice will almost be publicity.
Example : "Prime Minister is doing this , and the Voice is supporting him". vs " Prime Minister is going against the voice in implementing this".

So not totally toothless , maybe hard gums.

Well said.

Was always told don’t discuss politics or religion 😂

It was good advice

If people have an open mind about politics it can be discussed pretty amicably.

Trouble is people choose a side and cling to it, then its like telling a StKilda supporter they shouldn't support StKilda ....I DON"T CARE ABOUT YOUR STUPID FACTS!!!!!. Religion certainly in the same camp as StKilda supporters.

Thanks.

I'm going to stop here because my own spidey senses are going off, unless someone wants me to directly answer a question.

But I am just struggling to reconcile statements like "I want something that will bring real change" with a refusal to recognize Aboriginal and Torres Straight Islanders in the constitution. I do accept that this is probably because we are each viewing the world through different shaped prisms.

I think the conversation around it was pretty good TBH. No one getting personal, reasonable questions and responses.

George didnt have to ban anyone thats a good day on BF for a politics discussion.
Get ****ed you ****ing chinless middle aged woke leftist fairy

Will Fiji win the world cup?

No.

But we did beat England at Twickenham last week!! Woohoo!

I'd be delighted if we made the quarters and ecstatic if we made the semis.

Nobody should be discussing anything with you let alone politics and religion

What was the saying again, don't argue with a fool - onlookers may not be able to tell the difference. Need to keep it very simple around you - hello how's it going the weather's not bad is it, how about them Saints etc very simple stuff. Back in ya box, big boy

Why not? Because people have differing opinions and viewpoints? Heaven forbid.

I love a good debate on politics but have different views to lots of people that I respect and like. Rather keep it civil and stay on the things that we share in common. Same as in real life. I have a few people I know that I can have a dirty political fight with and still walk away laughing but others I should just know not to get into it with.

We are in finals. I love you all at the moment.

Thanks.

I have no problem recognising anyone in the constitution and worry this will just be another committee that will fail again.
But like I said earlier I think we need to fix much more important things and I think it will be just another cop out for our government to not do their jobs once again

I seen you kept out of it
Was thinking you realised you were out of your depth
But you’re not that clever and you were most likely trying to turn your phone back on

George most likely licking a window somewhere or staring into space somewhere
