Just got news my employer has decided to be acquired by a group with a super special ESG page on their website.

Will be much fun refusing the associated training when that inevitably comes up.

I'll just turn their struggle session into my own struggle session for kicks.

Still a waste of time, but much more amusing to me.
Do what I do, argue with them!! They can't dispute reality. We had to sit through a session earlier this year on international women's day where they wheeled in two successful women as speakers. They were both nice, accomplished and intelligent, and successful despite having to overcome many obstacles. The talk ended up winding its way into how we should support equity for women instead of equality, due to the historic inequality they have endured. I stated clearly that I would not support this, for two reasons. Firstly, that inequality has now been removed, and their success was, to some degree, evidence of this fact.

Secondly, I asked them if it was wrong for women to have been on the receiving end of that equality in the first place. They agreed it was wrong. I then asked how they could support subjecting men to deliberate inequality whilst claiming to want an equal society and pointed out that all they are doing is perpetrating inequality and switching the role of perpetrator and victim.

Oddly there was no response to that, and the meeting ended shortly after.

I went to university. At the start of year one, there were 2 women enrolled for maybe 60 males.
Both were good academically and passed very well, while lots of the males dropped out. I can totally understand how daunting it would have been to enrol in a course under such conditions, though they were treated well by the other students studying that degree.

Caught up with one a couple of weeks ago, she's quit work when she had kids and never went back. Not sure about the other. Perhaps she's still working, which would make her one among maybe 45 or so males who are probably still working.

Now ....If an employer wants someone with this sort of qualification to become a manager for their organisation, and you are a female who has their nose out of joint because such an organisation seems too blokey in their management roll, do your vast management skills suggest a reason why they aren't employing many?

---------

My ex wife was working in a bank when i met her.
She constantly bitched about men getting all the promotions.
I asked her why she didn't actually apply for any.
She said they had too many experience requirements that she didn't have. However the guys she knew were no more qualified than she was.
After looking at some of the internal jobs on offer, it was obvious they weren't going to get anyone with all the requirements they listed. I encouraged her to apply for jobs that she felt she could do, and to list here relevant experience against their requirements, and ignore the requirements she didn't have.
Wow she applied then she got one of the jobs she wanted. All in the mindset.

You didn't say any of that but it's a nice story xo

I actually did say that. But to be fair, the meeting was due to finish shortly after that point anyway. And don't misunderstand, I had agreed with some of what they had said earlier, that women had been subject to inequality previously in our society, very unfairly, and some of it until quite recently.

Not long after I started there, I was on an international Teams meeting and they were waffling about diversity. In the breakout sessions I was asked my opinion about how the company was handling opportunities for women, and what we could do better. My response was "well there are 12 faces on my screen from the global executive leadership team and 8 of them are female, so given that, I don't believe there is an issue".....

Again, people don't know how to respond to basic facts if they are presented in a polite, non-confrontational manner because there's nothing to argue against.

When I first started in the job I'm in now I had to catch up on 75 LinkedIn Learning courses and quickly realised that once you hit 'start' on a course, it'll play through the course without you needing to do anything as long as you leave the window open.

75 tabs and a relaxing 8 hour sleep later...voila  Guess who's the company man

You might then have to tidy up on your knowledge if you want to become an expert in inclusive language in the workplace and LGBTIQ friendly workspaces like me :D:rainbow:
