Years ago a mate of mine was a Council Engineer. One of the guys there went around changing all the give way signs to stop signs. My mate, observing that they shouldn't have been stop signs since they didn't meet the criteria, made him change them all back.
Now most places wouldn't have done that.
Put stop signs everywhere where you don't need them, and you end up with people ignoring them.

My L - Plate son was driving on the freeway the other day, i'm thinking wtf, why has he slowed down to 80. There was a stupid advisory speed posted, and of course everyone else was ignoring it because it was stupid.

People commonly ignore road work limits ( at a risk of fines ) because they know there is no-one there working.

Victoria in particular need to stop putting stupid instructions on the road , and then maybe people will follow what's there.
I have international colleagues over regularly and no matter their country of origin they unanimously say our traffic regulation is insane. Some refuse to drive here because of it.

Who the feck at this club approves the members merchandise, last year Sincs was stinks and this year Roma smells like he belongs in the men's urinal at Marvel,
No fecking chance it's going in my car , in fact it went straight to the bin
I always throw those things in the bin.

1000% agree.
It’s bloody awful.

Agree with most of what you wrote, but when I’m driving up a fairly main suburban road and people turn out of the side roads without stopping, o even yielding either right in front of me, or worse, cross in front of me to turn right, it pisses me off. Especially when often there is either no car behind me, or maybe one or two. It wouldn’t kill them to wait. Im happy to have the camera recording it in case an accident occurs.

The impatience and selfishness on the road is getting worse.

Oh yeah i totally don't get that.
I was sitting behind someone at a side road one day, thinking, there's a huge gap why isn't he going. ( we were stopped so the sign wouldn't have mattered ).
Flog waits until its too late, then pulls out in front of the oncoming car. Seriously WTF?

Just before Christmas, my daughter was driving 80km/h, a guy to her right in a turning lane, suddenly changed his mind and point blank pulled in front of her.
She swerved to the left, knowing there was a car there, but not wanting a 70km/h front on impact.
Car on the left saw it happening and moved hard against a concrete barrier, so they both shared a lane without hitting.

Good news on this occasion, car behind my daughter, turned on his hidden blue lights and pulled over the ****er .

I hope its not considered racist, but there are countries where the traffic barely gets above 40, and you don't get anywhere if you don't pull in front of others. ( i had an indian guy telling me about traffic in india (.
I wonder if we aren't educating them well enough when they get a local license. ( I see this more as a weakness of our system than a problem with people from other countries ).

Reminds me of this joke

Your last point is valid.
However, I do feel that over the past few years the aggression of drivers appears to have got worse.
Covid related? Stresses of life? Not sure. But it’s not great.
Glad your daughter is ok. Would have been very frightening for her.

Yeah the traffic in India is an experience you don't want. Generally the country's that lack the infrastructure will have an equivalently poor driving standard but when in those countries you do see that the organic system also works in its own way. The introduction of freeways in India has created some horrific crashes since farm 🚜 equipment will also use them, 15 tons travelling at 15kph at night, no lights or reflectors..scary shit.

More cars, more people, faster life. It all contributes.

An Indian guy told me that he thinks Indians are terrible drivers here because most don't own cars in India. Their first lessons start in their 30s and they never catch up. You probably also absorb the basics even travelling in cars here.

When I drive in Europe I'm a liability. Trying to decipher signs makes everything a bit slower and more disjointed.

I drove a long time ago in the USA, other side of the road, but because of where you sit in the car it was mirror image , so it was fine.
No problems at all in the UK, except suddenly a VW Golf seemed a lot bigger than it does here, driving through Bath was special.
Driving in Malaysia was special. I may have driven past 3 fatal collisions in 3 days.

100% and the amount of self entitled pricks who cut into lanes instead of lining up like everyone else drives me nuts

I find Europe pretty easy, probably coz l spent a couple of years there. Except France. I think they deliberately make their signage the opposite logic as a **** you to the Germans.
When l arrive l stick a note in the right hand side of the windscreen saying Wrong Side!!. When driving on the correct side you dont see the note. It works well.

I went over to India to train a team back in '08, and when one of the managers gave me a lift I instinctively put my seatbelt on, at which point he straight-faced told me that he didn't think anyone had ever used that seatbelt before. I believe he may have been serious ... He drove in a manner which felt safe, but after so many years of mandatory seatbelt laws over here, there was no way I was going to ride without one.

The Indian guy i spoke to ( grew up in Britain, but spent a lot of time there ) was rapt in the Nano small car.
He said the safety aspects would never let a car like that on the road here, but it was considered that most roads in India didn't have cars going faster than 40km/h or so, so crashes generally weren't that serious.

Ironically the reason it failed was that it was considered a low status car, and people who could have been advantaged by it preferred to buy a more prestigious second hand car.

As I don't watch it, sure, go for it, I'll allow it. :D

In other news, just popped the covers off my PS5 for the first time, was a bit worried I'd break them as you need to both pull up and push either left or right to "slide" them off so I could remove some excess dust I noticed on the exhaust.

After getting them off which was a first "how strong is too strong" to you know lift and pull, the major pain was getting them back on. As I suffer from RA and my hands amongst things are kinda ratshit with minute movements and sometimes holding/gripping things, needing to slot these 5-7 hooks into their grooves and push them to lock was a straight pain, as I'd twitch or something pinches to cause a random finger to go "nope" with an angle/pressure/ general movement, and the first couple times I thought I had a side on only for it to be not quite locked 100%.

Thankfully, got there in the end, but I think I'll stick with compressed air next time rather than trying to brush fins and such. Now however, only some internal I can see on fan blades, so, something for future me when I'm more "able' to do a proper tear down with internal covers and several screw designs as they be torx and I have no torx drivers on me at present.
