The Peter Mac cup was a great idea that's been going for years and years, and raised a lot of money for the Peter Mac Centre . . . why change it to the name of a Carlton president and convicted price-fixer???

100% agree, carlton has hijacked the naming rights of the cup for their own self interest, if they want to name a medal that one of their players can win fair enough. how eddie mcguire agreed to this is dumbfounding and an insult to the peter mac centre.they have put a criminals name ahead of a worthy cause.

Or maybe sitting on the board of an administration that made cheating and deceit an artform? And when he wasn't on the board, he was an active financier that saw many a Carlton player paid outside the salary cap (many coincidentally also being in the paper business).

Or maybe better yet, his and his disposed best mate actively discouraging long-term financial supporters from participating with the new regime out of spite? Including removing his own backing from the club?

Dick in the end thought he owned your club. All the evidence would suggest both the club and the supporters share that view.

So all these illegal activities have been going on alot longer than everyone thinks? The honourable thingto do is for Carlton to hand back all premierships won during the period when Pratt was associated with the club.

It would appear that the Peter Mac is only about helping people with cancer. Carlton's motive is to ensure everybody else thinks of Pratt as they do. That's why people are cynical - if Carlton were THAT concerned about cancer treatment and awareness why not have the Peter Mac cup played for twice a year. No, they want Richard Pratt's name in lights. With Peter Mac there's no allegience to either side and it's only about raising money for a good cause.

Richard Pratt is a Carlton man only, Collingwood should not be "honouring" this bloke and Eddie is as much to blame if not more for allowing this to happen. We should expect by now that Carlton would pull a stunt like this.

What are the chances you could say something once and everybody would take it in?

The Peter Mac Cup is played annually between Collingwood and Carlton. That is once a year, at all Collingwood home games between the two clubs.

The Richard Pratt Cup is not taking over the spot of any other cup. Carlton home games have been to this point ... cupless ... until now.

There is no hijacking, just an empty spot filled with another charity.

The only issue here is whether the Pies want to play for the Richard Pratt Cup.

A little bit of perspective here.

Yes, Dick Pratt was guilty of price fixing but it's not as if he sent people to the wall like Skase or Madoff. It was white collar crime but nothing any more disgusting than what Woolworths for example get away with. I understand people's discontent with what he did but he wasn't Lucifer reincarnate.

Secondly a foundation has been set up in his name to raise money in the effort to find a cure for prostate cancer which is honourable. If the two sides were playing for the Pratt Foundation Cup there wouldn't be as bigger deal, especially seeing as it is the Call to Arms month.

I totally understand the discontent behind the name 'Richard Pratt Cup' - what did he ever do for Collingwood? There are better ways to honour his name.

I'll support his foundation but I think this situation could've been handled better.

And it does matter what ends up on the cup especially when it's clear it's only being pressed by Carlton to turn a bloke who was anything but into a saint. If you guys think that, great - do it in house.

You also seem to not acknowledge that this is a clear incentive for you guys to win and provides Collingwood with nothing but a cup.
