True, but then again I can't remember Vossy getting suspended every other week either. And Vossy certainly wasn't put under the spotlight for what he said.

I'll agree Rocky probably needs to reign himself in a bit in regards to the suspensions but it may be difficult to know exactly what is crossing the line when we're seeing people getting suspended for something one week and next week other people doing the same thing and not getting suspended. The whole incident with Rocky being put under the spotlight was a storm in a teacup imo. He got too excited, did something stupid, instantly realized and admitted such during his Ling interview moments later. Media blow up.

If todays MRP went back and looked at his career, he would be. Likewise if Rocky played 10 years ago he wouldnt have been suspended this year at all.

Vossy was renowned for his sledging ,could get away with it back then.
A lot more scrutiny and stupid media hype now.

Absolutely no players were wired with microphones back in the day too.

edit: worded that atrociously.

I am sick of all the old people (65+) who just scream out "kick it!" Every time a player gets the ball all night. Frustrating when we are working on a running game.
Yeah, well I'm sick of guys in their forties yelling out "BALL". What of it.

I reckon because of his profile he'll get scrutinised a lot more than most others. After the Boomer/Scott thing I would have expected Rocky to just be a little more smarter in these instances. We would have definitely been the difference Saturday night for us.

"I made a blue, I apologised accordingly at the first opportunity to the Seven viewers where I made the blue."
At least millions have elected to switch off when BT is on telly and only 7 people saw it.

Also, what a confusing article to read; 'Taylor apologised for what Taylor said about Taylor and Taylor accepted':drunk:

Just watched Ed and Derm's blah blah on Foxtel for the very first time. Ed was already my most loathed person in football, but after a mere 40 minutes he has built an unassailable lead. Totally self serving and self centred scumbag. What's worse is he's never been wrong in his life and only has the AFL's best interests at heart!

I can only wish it were the Pies sitting in the Bombers' shoes with the ASADA situation. What a completely hateable individual.

Rockliff's been suspended twice in his 100 game career. Hardly every other week.

Both incidents were absolutely laughable, and Vossy certainly shoved opponents in the guts during his career. Brown was certainly no saint either in the beginning of his career and would have been suspened countless more times under today's MRP morons.

Rockliff will make a great captain and will be ready next year if Leppa decides. If anything, those are the traits you want to see in a young captain.

Did you just guess that?
I think he has been suspended more than that as he was also undisciplined earlier in his career as well.

No I didn't guess that because it is true.

Can you provide evidence of him being undisciplined in his early career? Seems like you're the one making stuff up off the top your head

He was very undisciplined earlier. Always giving away free kicks for nothing, l am not going to name them all because that is silly and l have a life.
Apparently he has a bad record in the MRP meaning he has been suspended a few times before.

Can you provide the link where it says he has only been suspended twice.

Look mate, before making the claim I looked it up and all the evidence suggested Rockliff had never been suspended prior to this season. He was suspended earlier in the year which explains his bad record this time around.

I've got no idea what you are talking about regarding free kicks early on in his career? Do you have stats from 2010 or 2011 about this apparent issue?

This year he averages 2 free kicks against, which can be fully attributed to him averaging over 9 tackle a game, and you'd expect some would slip high.

I don't ever recall him giving away undisciplined frees.

Can you provide the link where it says he has only been suspended twice.

Is this really necessary?

http://www.afldreamers.com/strategy/suspensions-and-dt/attachment/mrpsuspensions/ Download the excel download and it shows a complete list of suspensions from 2009 - 2012. Rockliff does not feature. And I'm nearly certain he wasn't suspended in 2013.

It seems a select few posters are hell bent on looking for reasons to begrudge the poor bloke.

Rocky wears his heart on his sleeve and gives it his all each week for the club that gave him a chance. He doesn't us want to be pushovers.

I remember Browny was not the most loved player in the comp in his first years.
Opposing fans called him a thug, because of how he played.
He spent numerous weeks on the sidelines, not just a one weeker like Rocky
He had to pull his head in. once he realized being suspended wasn't really helping his team.
Rocky is certainly going to learn and hopefully go on to become a great leader for us.
He is almost that now anyway.

The vent thread as some people conceptualise it is inherently ridiculous. If you genuinely want to yell something into the aether with no one permitted to say anything back, why bother logging onto an internet discussion forum to do it? Just yell at your teddy bear.

The real truth is that everyone who uses vent thread wants people to see it. I suspect that a lot of people use it purely to say something intentionally controversial to incite debate while still retaining the right to say "oi, I am entitled to vent" if they don't like the response.

It's a flawed concept and everyone knows it has been broken for ages.

Speaker's Corner in Hyde Park is perhaps the most celebrated example of provision of free speech in the western world. Everyone who wants to have their say is given a platform to do so, but even they don't presume for a second that you can stop those in attendance saying shit back.
