I can't handle Dwayne Russel. The man is an absolute **** and along with Robert Walls should be banned from commenting on Adelaide matches.

If you think that Dwayne Russell hates Adelaide and loves to see them lose then you have it spot on.

I've known the Russell family including Dwayne since Dwayne was a little kid. Nice family but football-wise absolutely feral in the most feral of SANFL Port Adelaide traditions. One of those families that used to cheer like hell at Alberton when Adelaide were losing or lost before Port Power came into the AFL.

The whole family including Dwayne hated Adelaide and I certainly don't detect any change since Dwayne's been a commentator.

If you think Dwayne is hoping Adelaide loses when he's calling them you have it exactly right. :)

Or that when he commentates Port Adelaide he is desperately hoping they will win and will praise everything they do. It’s sickening; my most hated commentator by a long, long way.

I think he has an obsession with Daniel Motlop. I’ve never heard a commentator so infatuated with one player in my life.

Last part of the 4th quarter was plain to see the confidence in the young guys soaring once we put a break on North.

That passage of handballs on the members side wing that ended up with Macca hitting Tex and the resulting conversion in the last quarter was FB.

For the best part of the last 8 years or so that passage would have ended up with a contested spoil and the opposition running the ball out of defense against us, but not tonight.:thumbsu:

Couldn't have said it better myself.....that was UTOPIA that piece of play.

Bock puts on the spoil and Dwayne says "Bock chopped the arms there"

Umpires haven't paid chopping the arms since round 11 2007.

:D

I was having a few beers during the game, but did I see Aaron Edwards try body slam the Truck when he didnt have the ball and NO free kick ? I couldn't believe my eyes....

Someone please tell me I was seeing things.

It was more like a failed spear tackle, if it was Petrenko or Mackay or someone he actually could have picked up he'd get weeks for that!

Walker: Is brilliant in flashes as with Petrenko and Dangerfield .......he may lose his spot when Burton returns to play and in form, and that may be good for Walker to not have a full season with the Crows but have to go back to SANFL to work on his obvious weaknesses

I think our forward completely lacks structure when Walker isn't on the field. Whenever he was on, our forwards were leading up and our midfielders hitting them on the chest, but whenever he was off and Stevens was in the forward line instead, we had no structure and our players were just bombing it in to the 50.

Hopefully we don't drop Walker at all.

North would possibly be better off if that useless hack Aaron Edwards was suspended. He barely averages a goal a game which is unacceptable for a key forward at this level. VFL standard at best.

I could write a lot but I will just quickly say that if it had been a dry match we would have won that game by 15 goals.

And I'm not convinced that it was only us getting screwed over by the umpires but gee it wasn't a good match from them. Yes, I agree, you should not pay things like incorrect disposal and throws as often in the wet but for things like pushes in the back, holding without the ball, etc, they should be paid the same, or perhaps even more. They missed a whole bunch of legitimate marks (not including Dangerfield's one which I'm still not convinced either way on).

- Symes is terrible. 25 disposals but he was shocking. I think Drummond summed it up perfectly a few weeks ago saying his disposal is extremely non-threatning. His kicking is woeful!

Agree with everything you wrote bar this (and who is Lachie Hanson?).

Symes attack on the ball in atrocious conditions was outstanding yesterday. Apart from a couple, his disposal was good yesterday I thought, and besides, you can't hold poor disposal against ANYONE on such a wet/slippery day surely?

I thought all your guys looked good from the word go. I could tell in the first 10 minutes we weren't going to win. Even with weather permitting we were far too sloppy with our disposal.

I thought MacKay looked good, Dangerfield was good early but faded out, Bock and Rutten, the Happy Valley boy, and Porplyzia, also from my neck of the woods :), did their bit.

We fought it out in the 2nd quarter but we just couldn't execute the skills. I'd love to use injuries as an excuse but Harvey was the only guy that would've made a difference last night. And I'm sure Johncock would've too.

We have some work ahead of us. But we'll get there. Craig has got Laidley sorted. To the extent that it's starting to get embarrassing.

The guy that gave away 50 to Bock which resulted in a goal.

His attack on the ball was good I'll give you that but how can you possibly say his disposal was good? I'm not talking about his poor disposal because of the slippery conditions because what he did yesterday was what he does in dry conditions. I'm talking about these high up-and-under kicks that are impossible to mark, how he puts his team mates under a lot of unessecary pressure with his lollipop handpasses or kicks and when he does dispose of it, it seems to go in slow motion because his kicks are just so high and non-threatning.
