What are you on about?

A trade will happen, the draft is a empty threat and it will not come to that.

Wells has a really good reputation when it comes to trades and I am sure something can be worked out should both clubs come to the table.

Wells will do the trade, already hinted at that on trade radio. Just because you want him for nothing doesn't mean a trade won't happen.

Mate just stop. Ive said it 20 times Im happy to pay the Neale trade value. Thats not nothing its fair.

Would be so much easier if he chose Freo.
This stubbornness to allow a player to go to his club of choice is a big deal, a very big deal. I can imagine young draftees just won't go to Geelong after this and just stay in WA and play 2 years in our WAFL then get drafted to a club who won't hold them to ransom.

"We've got to be respectful of Tim's wishes and we've put our case to Tim's management, and obviously as was the case last year, he wants to go to West Coast. We'll continue to do the best we can to present as a viable option for Tim should negotiations stall between Geelong and West Coast. But we are respectful of Tim and Caitlin's wishes. " from Bell

Reads as "we're happy for him to walk to us in the draft if Geelong and WC can't sort their shit out"

Would be great for Freo. They'd offer pick 7 and say take it or we draft him.
Everybody knew Kelly manager is a Eagles supporter. Bell just tell the media that if Eagles and Geelong can't agree to term, Fremantle might come in.

A fair bit of mayo on that claim. A downgrade of pick 19 to pick 24 isn’t “coughing up a first round pick”

Lol how is giving pick 19 + our second rounder on top of it for a 34 year old who had only played 50% of games his last four years us screwing a team? We gave more than enough. You do remember us losing him in his prime for pick 15 and 8??

Has this been reported on the Geelong website yet?

"Peter Bell has confirmed Fremantle's interest in Tim Kelly and Geelong will remain in regular contact with Fremantle".

Excuse me, where did I say Geelong were screwing anyone? I said claiming you gave up a first-round pick for him was an overstatement.

FFS unbunch your panties and try reading things properly.

He walks to West Coast in the draft. No club will touch him.
Even better but at this stage what's most important is he gets away from that disgraceful club that treats its players like this when they want to leave. Where he goes it doesn't matter just needs to get away from a club that treats its players like shit when they don't get their own way

WC can offer: 14 + 24 + 33 + 2020 first. We cannot offer 2020 first and second without a future first or second coming back.

On points that's 3,500-5,500, realistically 3,500-4,000. LOL.

It's bizarre to hear people say that we don't have the picks to get it done. When we've got a lot more than it could possibly cost.

What stops Gold Coast from getting him as pick 1 if he does go to the draft ? (i mean from a rules based context, not that he wants to be in WA).

Also, how does this work in regards to what Kelly gets paid ? If say Fremantle pick him up for pick 6 but only offer him 700 k but West Coast promised him 900 k ? Im sure Kelly would not be ok with that

That will be a top 10 pick a second Rd / future first and a player like O meara trade.

Which player was involved in the O'Meara trade?

O'Meara was traded for pick 10 and a future second round pick that ended up being 26. Pick 14 + a future first round pick is more than that.

Stephen Wells has already said that Tim Kelly is worth even more than that.

Nothing, assuming they have cap space. Gold Coast can select him at pick 1 or pick 2 if they want. But they won't because they want both Anderson and Rowell together.

Any OOC player entering the draft may nominate contract terms, years and dollars only. You can't draft a player who has specified $900k and pay them $700k.

The fact that they’ve virtually locked in Rowell and Anderson with those first two picks, and as a side that’s not going to be competing for a flag for a while yet they’d be completely uninterested in burning a no.1 pick on Kelly on what would be effectively a short-term loan.

It's bizarre to hear people say that we don't have the picks to get it done. When we've got a lot more than it could possibly cost.

It all comes back to Freo having pick 7, and potentially pick 6 to go with it. Last year they ended up going to the draft with 17 and 32. We had 23 and 25 prior to live trades. The "what about Freo??" narrative really died in the arse when they traded for Hogan.

If Freo traded pick 6 and 7 for Brodie Grundy or something Geelong would suddenly be all over our picks.

It would also make the AFL most cross which is not in their best interest.
