I agree but it becomes more likely the longer Geelong goes down this over expectation pathDer, it's just that this is extremely unlikely.
Bypassing Geelong completely seems to be the way forward now
I think there is more chances of the draft but Geelong & the Victorian media have been strong arming this pathor he relents and agrees to be traded to Fremantle because West Coast aren't prepared to do what it takes to honor their commitment to him.
Seriously, this has almost never happened in the history of draft and trade. Nick Stevens, Luke Ball, that's basically it. "He'll walk for nothing" is like Pickup Artistry: seems to work a lot more on the internet than in reality.
While i think this is likely what Geelong accepts, that is still borderline selling the farm for an out of contract who named his destination14+33+2020 first.
Very close to Geelong's request of 3 top 30 picks, without WC selling the farm.
my prediction:While these picks will likely be turned into other ones, what do eagles/geelong/neutral posters think is a fair amount for West Coast to give up?
a) 14 + 24 = 1,946
b) 14 + R1 2019 = 2,322
c) 14 + 24 + 33 = 2,509
d) 14 + R1 2019 + 33 = 2,885
e) 14 + R1 2019 + 24 = 3,107
I’ve done points just as a rough guide (everyone knows the AFL’s DVI is a joke that massively over-values later picks), based on our future first being pick 14.
Nil. I think both club will get the deal done, just not what Eagles and Geelong fan here expected. How many times in recent years has a player from club A requested a trade to club B and club A spent their time talking to club C?

Point value only valuable to NGA and academy players. If 7 academy players in top 10 next year pick 14 could turn into second Rd pick.
B or C will do it.
yea, I dunno. It's sure going to be intriguing to watch unfold.I think there is more chances of the draft but Geelong & the Victorian media have been strong arming this path
Just listened to the interview with Kelly at the airport.
I gotta say it's pretty disgusting from the media to keep pushing Fremantle
Why the agenda?
Why does the media push Fremantle and GFC push Fremantle
No other player that I can remember has had this s**t pushed on them.
He's chosen west coast so fu** off with the Fremantle s**t and honour what he's asked for you campaigners
That is what I am trying to point out , so many if and disclaimer but not enough patient. Everybody just repeating the same thing over and over again from last year to this year. Eagles can use Brader and ask whether GWS and Gold Coast are interested in him both have first round pick in 10+ range if Geelong don't rate him.If we have an off year it could be a top 10 pick.
And yes - I did put a disclaimer about points in my post.
my prediction:
West Coast offers a)
Wells asks for e)
they end up settling on b)
I agree.We might have to give more in a negotiation than they do. I have been ok with that since I watched Trading Day on fox last week. Jon Ralph was talking about the cost of getting Kelly and said;
"Imagine in 2020 you have Nic Natainui in the centre square and tapping to either Shuey on one side, and Kelly on the other".
If all goes well for Geelong, they get a couple of good prospects with the picks they get who will be good players in 2021 and beyond.
Once you take in to account that Kelly immediately strengthens our team and our 2020 Premiership prospects I became ok with paying a premium for Kelly.
Sometimes you have to choose which hill you are willing to die on and look at the bigger picture.
So I get the tribal element, as you've suggested this year one could argue was peak Geelong. I just struggle to see how the inclusionCos we are supporters, we are not renowned for using logic when it comes to our own sides. Every big trade turns into a S fight.
The real problem for Geelong is they have an ageing mid field and he is both close to their best and has many years to come. So they are venting.
Yes, I think it's been established ,that a Club talking directly to fans before the trade results in a shit fight. Can't speak for anyone else but I would imagine the best way of negotiating a trade with WC would be to talk to WC.

The more relevant example to me is Mitch Clark.Seriously, this has almost never happened in the history of draft and trade. Nick Stevens, Luke Ball, that's basically it. "He'll walk for nothing" is like Pickup Artistry: seems to work a lot more on the internet than in reality.
Are you saying Freo could try the 900k+ offer on?The more relevant example to me is Mitch Clark.
Freo offer their second pick and a modest deal for Mitch who was desperate to get home for family reasons, Brisbane want the first pick we have. It stalls.
Melbourne offer twice the money and a way better draft pick, Mitch decides his family reasons aren't such a big deal and he moves to Melbourne instead.
Judd's mother was given a million a year desk job at Visy around the time he nominated Carlton. I'd say this had more effect on who he wanted to play for.2007..Chris Judd. Judd preferred Collingwood confirmed by Judd about 5 or so years ago not long after he retired. West Coast said at the time "he won't be going to Collingwood". carlton had better picks and Judd thought a trade was more likely with carlton, so Judd chose carlton.
We'd just beaten WCE in a semi final @ Subi. Lost the PF but were contending at that time.
