I'm not on board trading out Gaff but I'm OK with Geelong getting pick 14 and us somehow keeping it.

d,
or e with 36 coming back.
Cats get their 3 picks inside 30, and "more than 2 first rounders"
I'd suggest both teams already know the rough deal and its just arguing over the minor picks.
We give up a contracted, happy AA midfielder for an uncontracted, unhappy AA midfielder and we’re required to throw in our first rounder as well?
Is there an unwritten rule that years served means you get to name your destination and the departing club has to help them there?
Only thing that makes Ablett and Dangerfield different to TK
You wouldnt be going to this much effort just to posture, I think the first and second parts are done just down to 3rd part...I think the deal is done and the Cats need to posture and act tough to appease their fans and look like they tried really, really hard.
Bare with me... work in progress.
Carlton:
IN: Jack Martin, Tom Papley
OUT: pick 9, 2020 Rd 2 pick
WC:
IN: Tim Kelly, pick 37
OUT: 14, 24, 2020 Rd 1 pick
Gold Coast:
IN: pick 17
OUT: Jack Martin
Sydney:
IN: Joe Daniher, pick 24, Carlton 2020 Rd 2 pick
OUT: pick 5, Tom Papley
Geel:
IN: pick 5, pick 9
OUT: Tim Kelly, pick 17
Essendon:
IN: pick 14, WC 2020 Rd 1 pick
OUT: Joe Daniher
Just public perception I guess. It's a bit rough though given draftees get no say on where they go, and if they turn around 2 years later and ask to go home they get flamed for it.
A bit of responsibility should lie with the team who picked the player in the first place. Probably just unlucky for geelong (and obviously kelly) that a a couple of his kids get diagnosed with autism shortly after being recruited.
You give it a crack, but if it fails you should just move on.
Guys like Jack Lukosius are going to face the same blowtorch in 12 months. But it's really on GCS if they recruited someone then couldnt retain them.
Looks good except Essendon probably getting the shaft there.
Doubt they'd accept that for Daniher unless their 'hardball' is all smoke and mirrors. 11 games in 2 years is pretty damning.
Also the whole lot could be condensed to just a deal between Eagles/Cats. ie
Eagles IN: Kelly and Cats 36.
Eagles OUT: 14,24, future 1st.
Cats ontrade our 14,24,future 1st with their pick 17 and grab whatever picks they want (ie 5+9 in your proposed scenario).
Gaff and 14 for Kelly? What about this one -
West Coast Lose Andrew Gaff
West Coast Gain Tim Kelly
North Melbourne Lose pick 8
North Melbourne gain Andrew Gaff
Geelong Lose Tim Kelly
Geelong gain Picks 8 and 14
Gaff and 14 for Kelly?
...
Americanpies has a bit of a grudge against West Coast, no surprise it's carried on into the drafting and trading board.
Not bad.
Really it becomes:
Geelong get 5 and 25
Geelong lose 14, 24 and WC future 1st
Bulldogs get WC future 1st and 24
Bulldogs lose 13
Essendon get 13 and 14
Essendon lose Daniher
Sydney get Daniher
Sydney lose 5 and 25
Any obvious winners and losers in that?
Cats could redraft so I don’t think you could wait to pick 63...Very encouraging that he is flipping Fremantle the bird.Draft pick 63 or whatever the Eagles lowest number is.
People scoff at suggestions of two firsts or a first and two seconds and come up with trades like that and think they are realistic.
More and more coming out about Gaff and 14 now for TK. Bit surprised but Gaff's contract is a killer apparently. If we trade Gaff for Kelly I will cut sick. MASSIVE overs.
Fixed. No less fair than your proposal, and at least mine adds up.What about this one -
West Coast Lose Chris Masten
West Coast Gain Tim Kelly
North Melbourne Lose pick 8
North Melbourne gain Chris Masten
Geelong Lose Tim Kelly and Scott Selwood
Geelong gain Pick 8 and Jordan de Goey
Collingwood Lose Jordan de Goey
Collingwood gain Scott Selwood
I just don't understand why the Eagles would want to give up 2 first's and an early second. I think their position is stronger. 2 firsts is sufficient for Geelong to trade up after that just swap or give up late seconds.Looks good except Essendon probably getting the shaft there.
Doubt they'd accept that for Daniher unless their 'hardball' is all smoke and mirrors. 11 games in 2 years is pretty damning.
