Hypothetically our offer could have been 4 years at 500.
Would I still offer that?

Probably. A player of Tom's quality for what is slightly above average contract value would be a good result assuming he gets his body right.

He's not going to be an A grade, all Australian level difference maker and I think our offer will reflect that.
Maybe the free agent offers he was getting were 700k over 5, but with injury have been pulled.
That was always a risk.

Doedee as the fourth tall alongside Butts, Murray, Worrell would allow Michalanney to roam too.

Doedee ~ Butts ~ Worrell
Milera ~ Murray ~ Redman?
Michalanney, Hinge to wings and defence rotation. Bailey Williams too?

I would offer Tom a two year deal on minimum. Let's see how he pulls up from the ACL. If he has a good season in 2025 then I would offer him an extension but I think he will probably finish his career interstate. Tom hasn't been in great form this year and fumbles and slips over on too many occasions. I hope for Toms sake that if he was off to another club they still honour it. Hopefully we get Redman and or Bailey Williams.

As a player coming to the club it is a good look to think we look after our players and also take their interest into consideration
Exactly, injured putting his body on the line for the AFC, no decent club would not do the right thing. Not to mention the message it sends to the playing group just when club is once again looking like an attractive place to be for players considering a move.

Tom had a contract from the club earlier in the year which I'm sure was more than attractive. He gambled and unfortunately it didn't pay off. The club won't go over the top with any contract and nor would any club that's dealing with a player that's had two acl's. What sort of offer do you think Geelong offered Daniel Menzel? It wouldnt have been great.

You're wrong but carry on, Tom will get a contract that is fair to both parties if he wants to stay.

That’s the point, fair for a player than now will have a knee injury to rehab and come off.
It won't be minimum $$$'s as some of the nuffies are suggesting but. He's been a highly valued player by the club both on and off the field and I'm sure they'll reach an agreement that is amicable to both parties.

What about Jordan Gallucci?

Poor Jordan was injured (ruptured Achilles) putting his body on the line at training for the AFC! Yet he wasn't offered another contract. Where is the outrage Bicks!!!

I would be amazed if the Club doesn't want to hold Doedee longterm (career)

His value to us or any club for next year is close to minimum $$. He’ll be unavailable for half the season. Thereafter he’s a dicey prospect because of his injury history. I do not know whether there is an understanding of unwritten rule about uncontracted players getting looked after if they get LTIs but I just cannot see - from a cold-blooded POV - how he’s worth much more than minimum wage next year.

I am sure the club wanted him pre injury. Did he want to stay at the club pre injury?
There's nothing, apart from supporters rumours, to suggest otherwise ......it was compounded by the rumours we are chasing Redman

Now, with Managers using Clubs like us as leverage .....I simply don't believe any rumours, unless there's real rationale ......Redman has given every indication he's happy at ESS .....yet supporters already have Doedee's bags packed in anticipation Redman is coming

Premature expectations

LOL

A solid contributor vs a non entity both on and off the field, that's without bringing character into it.

Okay so your first statement has been proven bull$h!t by your 2nd statement? Gallucci was seriously injured putting his body on the line for the AFC, but you were happy to discard him....

So where is the line that decided when a decent club should "do the right thing" and send a message to the playing group. A player needs to be a solid contributor for us to do the right thing?

This is classic Bicks... I haven't seen this contradiction in the name of righteousness since you tried to say Tippett was a mercenary for leaving us, but Betts could leave Carlton because he had a family...

Also - you never gave me my prize. Unless of course you still think Dalyrymple wasn't responsible for selection Howard.

:) :) :)

Corey Norris reporting our pre-injury contract offer is still on the table to Doedee.

IF true - this is an absolute disaster and complete and utter stupidity.
I would have thought this reflect poorly of the club who chased him and convinced him to not sign with us, admittedly we didn't offer him the contract he wanted so didn't immediately re-sign.

Fridge players get treated different to those in the best 22, how do you not know this?

Whats a fridge player?

I get it. Better players are treated better. Thats my whole point.

He should not be offered the same contract now as he was offered pre injury because he won't produce the same.

How do you not know this?!??!

*Fringe player. Like I said, it reflect more poorly on the club who chased him with their offer especially if they've verbally agree to the term then us offering him the same contract before his ACL.

What does offfield have to do with anything if you can't stay on the field. Surely onfield performance and his future ability to stay on the field consistently will be the chief determinant in what he is offered. Offer him a coaching role if his off field is that good.

You can g on believing that if you want but the reality is far different beast.

Isn't Norris a powaa guy? I don't think he would have any idea about contracts at the club and I doubt any club would offer Doedee the same deal they offered him pre injury when that contract was dependant on a fit Doesee that plays 23 games next year.

Why posters have not worked out by now none of these football journalists have much idea about contracts... & just make shit up... is beyond me.
