St Kilda are pretty much perfect for him. The fact they have ruled themselves out and are pursuing midfield battlers, Jack Steele and Koby Stevens, is interesting.

If I were Brisbane I'd be saying a top 20 pick or go get stuffed. This character nonsense is so overrated, if he can play then it doesn't matter what sort of bloke he is (within reason)
Not sure Steele is a battler, you'd be very happy to have him.
We have the inside brigade now and don't require another slow mid.
His poor off-field efforts would definitely not impress the club and would have an impact on recruitment.

Your inside brigade is still a fair way of top 8 imo. Richo is a gun coach though imo so maybe there is something I'm missing

Calling Steele a battler may be a bit harsh, I was more referring to the faact that he is nowhere near as good as ROckliff

Hahah yeah St Kilda don't tolerate poor off-field efforts.

He'd want to watch out he doesn't get suspended but then not really suspended.

Not going to bother with the not really suspended thought.
Obviously they didn't know what was too happen with Carlisle.
They weren't very pleased with that and he then learnt what they had attempt to be building.

I have to disagree. Character is huge.

Dogs let griffen go because he didn't want yo be there and was more interested in Roo Shooting, and they go on to win a flag.

so where is it at do you think? Barrett made it sound pretty desperate tbh.

We want to get rid of him of a good enough offer come through.
Rocky will only go if he gets enough $$$.

If anything, it's a mutual parting of ways. It's not as simple as Rockliff wants out and we want to keep him.

Unless we are offered a top 10 pick or equivalent and Rocky gets similar $$$ to what he wants, he'll be staying put.

Mate Carlisle has had a year off football. What would be the point of banning him for the first few games this year? Absolutely pointless but you have a dig at us anyway.

You're the ones currently shopping around your captain. Glass houses.

Hypocrisy was the exact thing I was pointing out in my post lol

They were absolutely aware. They just didn't think anybody would find out that they were aware. The comments from the club gave it away completely.

"We didn't think anything like this would be made public".

If they weren't aware, there would have been a law suit pronto.

Your completely off the mark on this one. It's the opposite. We rejected his asking price for a contract extension and didn't even out up a counter offer. There's been a lot of problems with Rockliff at the club.

I understand that, but the club's comments today paint a completely different picture. Your club is trying to convince Rockliff about the ways in which it will improve, not the other way around.

At the end of the day, Lion fans will rest easy knowing that if he departs, he's been pushed out due to the severity of his off field problems. I don't really know how else to explain the situation without giving too much away.

But fwiw, I've been hearing for weeks that despite his off field problems we'll be backing the new coaches into change things around with Rocky. Every other reliable Lions poster has heard different.

Fair enough. Sometimes it's good to turn over a new leaf. His new club will either get a bargain because he is a gun, or a very expensive problem. I hope it's us that takes the punt (if we can even afford him).

I will say though, that the recent noises from the club indicate that despite the off field stuff, Brisbane wants to make it work and are trying to convince him that the club is doing the things he would need it to do to consider staying. Sounds like he wants to cut ties, though. Probably best for everyone. Some relationships are better off ending.

Are you hearing which clubs are Brisbane negotiating with? I really hope Adelaide are still sniffing around. I would much rather give the deal that we offer Carlton for Gibbs to Brisbane for Rockliff. But looks like Adelaide have lost interest in Rocky.

Stretching the truth a bit. Griffen wanted out because he hated the coach.

Regardless.. he didnt want to be there so they boldly told him to f off. I remember them saying "we want players that want to be here". Everyone said the dogs would be a basket case losing their captain and best player. Brisbane are in the same position... new Coach, new administration, captain wants to leave. Have some balls and let him leave and get rewarded for it... ie Tom Boyd.

Rockliff is the best value name i reckon being discussed during trade week. Not in terms of salary but in terms of what the trade with Brisbane would cost.

He is massively under rated by fans and opposition clubs i reckon. He's been playing in an extremely poor team, has had injuries and played out of position in a side with a shocking gameplan. If he was played forward more and midfield and used to his strengths he would be a huge asset. One on one he is very hard to beat in the forward line, his best games are where he plays mid and then pushes forward and kicks 2 to 3 goals which he is very capable of on a consistent basis
