Please God no. I'm not religious, but I will be if it will keep Rockcliff away. I'll even buy a Brisbane membership if he stays.

Let's be perfectly honest about it, if you're captain of your club and still being pushed out of the door, there's usually a pretty good reason for it- and in this case i suspect there's more than him just being a chauvinistic pig.

Why we'd even entertain a trade with Brisbane is beyond me; surely we've learnt our lesson after being burned with the Clarke/ Martin trades...

Where are you getting the idea that Rockliff is being "pushed out the door"?

Anyone thinking Rockliff is a better player than Beams is clearly a Brisbane supporter!

Or a Collingwood supporter... I think Rockliff is better than Beams. It's really about your performance vs your direct opponents output. Beams may get 28 touches and a goal a game but his opponent will get 35 touches and 2 goals

I gotta a feeling that you're gonna cry for a week if Rockliff goes cheaper than a top 10 pick.

I doubt it. I saw Fitzroy's list gutted in the 1990s and I was much closer to them than I am to Brisbane. If Rockliff stays well and good. He may be traded, but anyone who believes Barrett's claim that he will be traded for any pick under 35 is kidding themselves. Noble, Schwab and Fagan won't be gutting the list by trading the club's second best player for little in return. They want elite young talent and will keep Rockliff if any trade for him can't help secure that.

What does Brisbane get out of this? 2017 future round pick which with Rockliff could be anywhere between 11-18 in return for Pick 19? Lose one of their best 5 players in return for a 29 year old Dunn (30 in May 2017) who played 4 senior games in 2016. Swap a pick in the thirties for Pick 29?
Unbunch your panties....

I didn't say I think it's going to happen, just what I'd heard.

It's unders I agree, but I think you're in for a shock when a deal is done for Rockliff. On ability he's a top 10 pick, but the reality is he's got baggage so he's a late first rounder at best

I'll ask again. What does Brisbane get out of that proposed trade that they would want to trade Rockliff? What advantage does it give them? How does it significantly enable them to meet their drafting and trading goals?

A straight swap of Rockliff for a late first rounder better matches what Brisbane have publicly stated what they want to do. Access elite talent in this year's draft.

I'll say it again to.... I don't think it's a good trade, it was just suggested so I relayed it.

Why does he need to answer those questions? He's already made it perfectly clear he doesn't think it will happen and is unders.

You can't trade both 1st and 2nd rounds of future draft picks. But next years first and this years second for Rocky and 21 would be fine by me.

Leaves our third this year for Lewis and next years Second for Hibberd.
:huh: You've confirmed you can't trade next years 1st & 2nd but then done it anyway with your trade proposals ??

Brisbane say that shit to keep the fans happy. Rockliff needs to go now for whatever Brisbane can get for him. There's no way he will stay beyond next season because he won't be able to work under Fagan. Brisbane will get worse for him next year than this year. This is the year to trade him and if it's for a second round pick, so be it, Brisbane are much better off than dealing with Rockliff's off field behaviour. So what do Brisbane get out of trading Rockliff for not much? No off-field distractions anymore and a more harmonized club.

What does Brisbane get out of this?

Rockliffs mega coin off the books and a clean slate for a new era.

Port seem faced with a similar situation with Hartlett.

Tried shopping him around with his big bucks, noone would pay his market value (first rounder) because of the contract size he came with.

Port WOULD find someone to take him and his big contract on the cheap though (2 rounder or so).
But they have decided to ride it out and not accept unders for him (for now anyway)

Maybe bris have taken the opposite approach and are accepting unders for rocky in order to remove the big contract and attitude from the club?

Why does he need to answer those questions? He's already made it perfectly clear he doesn't think it will happen and is unders.

But posted the proposed trade anyway with the additional comment "who actually has a very good track record posted that...."

If it's unders what would be the reasons for Brisbane agreeing to such a trade? That's what I'm asking.

But why are you asking him? He's just regurgitating what he read somewhere else? The only person who could answer that question for you is a Brisbane list manager.

We're struggling to pay 95% of the cap anyway. Hanley will almost certainly be going.

TRied shopping him around with his big bucks, noone would pay his market value (first rounder) because of the contract size he came with.

Brisbane would trade him for the right offer. What's actually happened is the right offer hasn't come along. They would have an idea of what they could get as a compensation pick next year when he becomes a unrestricted free agent. Any trade offer would have to match or exceed that.

Maybe bris have taken the opposite approach and are accepting unders for rocky in order to remove the big contract and attitude from the club?

Maybe. Complicated by the fact that Rockliff's preference is to stay. I'm sure his management has made a few enquiries about his worth to assist his next contract negotiations. This isn't unusual. Daniel Bradshaw also used to shop himself around every time he came out of contract. Jonathan Brown nearly accepted a multi-million dollar offer from Collingwood in the mid-2000s.

The club is also prepared to keep Rockliff for 2017.

By the way, at no point have I said Rockliff won't be traded. But it won't be at any cost.

Jesus... Read it properly.

By saying "who actually" I'm already implying that the trade isn't exactly likely...

So the trade proposed from someone who "actually has a very good track record" and whose sources were the new Brisbane football operations manager, and a former Fitzroy great, current Brisbane scout and father of a current afl captain (who happens to be his uncle) is actually not very likely.

Ok then.
