WN & Donners - Quote from the game earlier this year

"NIC NAITANUI'S performance against Essendon on Friday night has resulted in him being awarded a maximum 10 votes in the AFLCA Champion Player of the Year award.
Naitanui had 13 possessions and 17 hit-outs to guide West Coast to victory against the Bombers."

Patty may have had similar possessions and hitouts and kicked am extra goal but had little or no impact on the result, NicNat did. Patty is much more versatile than Nic but has been beaten convincingly in the ruck a few times already.

david myers was a first round draft pick a few years ago. still shows a lot of promise, cant believe no one has him in their top ten lists.

There is only 1 zero in the title, it is top 10 not top 100. (even then he would be pushing it)

1. Stephen Hill
2. Tom Scully
3. Steele Sidebottom (already should have won a Norm Smith as a teen!!!!)
4. Cyril Rioli (just think he's a bit overrated, but still very good)
5. Dustin Martin
6. Michael Hurley
7. Jack Riewoldt
8. Jack Trengove (Melb)
9. Matthew Kreuzer
10. Patrick Dangerfield

Just who I believe will end up the best mainly, allow a hint of bias putting Trengove in, but the guy is all class.

Deliberately left vanilla Gibbs out by the way.

1. Jack Riewoldt
2. Nick Naitanui
3. Trent Cotchin
4. Michael Hurley
5. Cyril Rioli
6. Bruce Gibbs
7. Steele Sidebottom
8. Matthew Kruezer
9. Luke Schuey
10. Patrick Dangerfield

And for what it's worth:

11. Dustin Martin
12. Tom Scully
13. Andy Otten
14. Ryan Bastinac
15. Stephen Hill
16. Dan Hanneberry
17. Tom Rockliff
18. Nathan Fyfe
19. Paddy Ryder
20. Anthony Morabito

Unlucky: Rohan, Grimes

Because he's not that good?

If he was drafted pick 25 him being top 10 wouldn't even be a discussion.

The guy picked up 15 votes in last years Brownlow at 20 years old, it's not like he's a complete hack. He would have had a much better year if they let him play midfield. But playing back is part of his education. He will absolutely justify his number 1 draft pick.

??

I can understand if it comes down to potential mixed with current performances, but since you specifically stated just performances, than how is Jack Riewoldt anywhere BUT number one?

- 78 goals in 15th placed side.
- Coleman medallist
- Jack Dyer medallist (Richmond best and fairest 2010)
- All Australian Full Forward.

He kicked 10 goals in one game and a combined 13 in two outings against St.Kilda (who are regarded as having one of the best defences).

No player aged 21 and under has achieved more than Jack Riewoldt in the current crop.

Completely agree.

Hamish "Hamstring failiure" Hartlett

Will be insane once he can play more than one game a month!!

..we thought the same of our Hartlett, until we realised he's mister glass.. ..hope fer your luck it doesn't run in the family.. ..so far though, doesn't look so good..

If you did this poll a month ago you'd have Frawley in the top couple. Very hard though. When you're less than 21 you are judged based on your potential as much as anything.

Jack Riewoldt is a ****ing mad dog- doesn't sook to the umps or cry like his brother (who is an excellent but maligned player), is mid sized, plays for a rabble of a team (admittedly seem to be turning things around) and won the Coleman as a 21 year old.

The magnitude of this achievement has only hit me through reading this thread

Warms the heart cockels seeing opposing fans rate Stephen Hill as much as Fremantle fans too.

Also, STRONG LACK OF ZAC CLARKE, making all lists irrelevent due to ignorance
