* This list should be made about players that have played their best footy in these years. EG) Voss would not be in contention as he played his best years prior.

1. Chris Judd. 2003 - Present. No explanation required.
2. Nathan Buckley. 2000 -2005 (Not at no.1 because alot of his good football was also prior)
3. 5. Scott West. Top 5 finisher in Brownlow about 4 times during these years. People may forget just how consistently good hes been.
4. Ben Cousins. Consistent throughout with a few stand out years.
5. Adam Goodes. 2 Brownlows out of the 8 years in question.
6. Jonothan Brown. His last 5 years have been at the top of the comp each year.
7. Nick Riewoldt. Been a star since his second year. Top 2 CHF's every year for 6 years now.
8. Gary Ablett Jnr. Been the dominant player in 2 of the 9 years played this century. Deserving of a spot.
9. Jason Akermanis - His best football in his brownlow year and the premiership years of Lions were some of the best football this century has seen.
10. Matthew Pavlich. Carried Freo for 7 years now. This year will be his 6th All Australian honour in the 9 years of this century.

** Hird was not named as alot of his best football was also prior. Gave some other blokes a chance.

Voss played his best years prior despite winning two MVP trophies in 2002 and 2003?

No Hird? He would have been a good chance to win the Brownlow in '03 if he hadn't missed six regular season games.

West higher than Cousins?

This whole list is ridiculous.

terrible list with no Voss or Ricciuto!

I would also find room for Nigel Lappin and Warren Tredrea.

No particular order, here are my certainties for such a list

Voss
Bucks
Tredrea
Lappin
Ricciuto
Hird
Judd
Goodes

The competing for last 2 spots are Brown, Black, West, Cox, Cousins, Bartel, Reiwolt, Pav, Macleod, Lloyd and Aker.

I don't consider Ablett or Franklin as contenders because they have only been elite for 2 year in this decade so far, the above names have all done it for a minimum of 3 years.

Voss won 3 flags in the 00's I reckon he may take exception to that even if he did with the Brownlow in the 90's.

Ricciuto: All Australian 2000, 2002, 2003, 2004 (captain), 2005 (captain) http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/AFLPA_AwardsBrownlow Medallist: 2003 Runner Up 2004 AFLPA Best Captain 2005, 2006 Club Captain 2001 - 2007 Club Champion 2003, 2004. Reached 300 games in 2006, quickest in history to reach the milestone. Outdoes the majority on your list. He won 3 All Australians in the 90's and was a premiership player, he became a superstar in the 00's.

I don't really want to get into another pro Tredrea rant, but he was the best player in the league in the hardest position in the game for 5 years. 4 AA guernseys, a Premiership captain and a coaches association award. If it wasn't for injuries he'd still be tearing up the league.

In the team of the decade thread, the intelligent posters had him at CHF ahead of Brown, and I don't see how it would be any different in a thread like this.

Edit: Thankyou Ryder Is God.

Pavlich would be way up there with any other team.
Cousins should be up to 2nd atleast, competing with Judd.
Ablett will climb higher in the next few years.
Voss and lappin should get a mention also.

Riewoldt would be higher if saints made the most of the good times. skeptical about him being top 10 atm against some of the other names people have mentioned, not that level of greatness...yet.

You're all pathetically WAY OFF!!

10. Jason Dunstall
9. Billy Morrison
8. Warrick Capper
7. Nathan Burke
6. Syd Coventry
5. Aaron James
4. Brett James
3. Dale Thomas
2. Wayne Carey

and #1 player of the 00s!!

1. Justin Charles

Forward Pocket you mean?

His performance in last year's grand final as a captain, and his general ordinariness for many years now wouldn't hold him in good stead though...
