Absolutely, but now they have said irrefutably that the deal is off I think they are in a lose/lose position re: PR response.
Could be whoever blinks first. If the pies can't convince Beams to stay and play then they could come running back for that deal they're rejecting. Brisbane blink first and Collingwood get their way...AGAIN!!

Not according to several on here. Arseholes all the way!

Go Catters
Explain to me how Bundy has to go to Brisbane?
Explain to me how putting the club's interests at a premium means Geelong supporters are arsholes?

First Ryder (falls through), then Beames (looking shaky), now Bundy. All to Brisbane, and their management are all saying personal reasons. And Brisbane has spent the past 4 or 5 months boasting about being cashed up looking for gun players. Everybody has personal issues. It's called being alive. I don't buy it.

Now that the Beams deal is off any chance we can push for 5 for Bundy? :D
(won't happen I just needed a laugh after such a difficult day)
Speaking of the beams deal. if it does in fact fall through, what's stopping us for putting an offer to Greenwood given the pick gained from losing Beams was going to be passed on to NM? Just a thought.

I thought it was fair. Players leave clubs all the time, we accept it, but it's how you leave that matters and that says a lot about you as a person. The reality is Bundy for months strung the club along when they had a new contract offer for him, at the last minute told them he was leaving and then refused to deal with the club (GC) who met all his supposed compassionate requirements but just so happened wouldn't offer him as much money. As far as I am concerned, that sort of thing says a lot about someone's personal values and ethics as a person, and it's not the sort of character I want around the club. And that's from a supporter who had him as one of my favourites.

While I think commercially we are getting screwed on the deal maybe in the end we are better off for not having him at the club if those are his values.

You might be upset PO, but you are miles, miles better than this drivel

Their personal issue is they hate living in cold, 'footy mad' Melbourne where they apparently get stalked by supporters and need to live in peaceful sunny queensland where everyone will leave them alone. Its for their mental well being.

It's hard to not feel that Bundy stuck his pork sword in the wrong hole, yet it's the GFC which has been fcuked the hardest. But feeling this way would actually mean that I know the facts, and I don't, so I'll fight the urge to blame and just remain, at best, bitterly disappointed.

Absolutely. You can very easily build a rep of being pricks.
Or you can build a long term rep of looking after players.

On reputation...

A few in here (not vinum) continually post about bending teams over. That is not the real world.

If you are negotiating a one-off deal with someone you will never deal with again, then you can go for a winner/loser deal. When relationships and reputation matter, that is a losing strategy long-term. The club know this.

What a ridiculously uninformed and immature response.... so not at all surprising from you.

Why would we burn his contract? He can smash himself preseason and if form warrants it he plays... If not he goes back to the VFL like Bluey McGrath and Mensch did in 2002 and helps develop our future stars. He was really good the 1st half of the year and dropped away late. So if he can perform at a good level he plays, if he can't he doesn't... simple
Not very likely, did you see Kels second half of the year?

That is a pure lie.

I can't believe how upset some of you are.

A guy isn't in a good place. And wants to go.
Maybe you'd prefer "player hates coach, wants to go"

Actually maybe you guys want zero trades.
"Mate, you can't go unless we delist you, that's the way it is"
"But what if I play til I'm 80?"
"You're screwed, that's the way it is"

Mate, why wouldn't we be upset!? This is a bloody outrageous scenario that is playing out, and we as a club are getting royally screwed!

It makes me sick.
