The way Rendell talked about AT today made me feel as if the club almost has to be cruel to be kind to Adam in this situation. He described him as almost obsessive compulsive, and talked about how he relied on his girls for balance in his life (paraphrasing) and that despite Adams insistence he wants to stay in Vic, he doesn’t think he’ll handle it well when push comes to shove. There’s a lot of narrative around his salary too, but if push came to shove we could make that work. Cap relief is just a side benefit we’d get from his departure. It sounds like the clubs main concern is that AT won’t cope with the girls in Qld and need time off/have his form affected by their absence, hence the push from them for him to make the move.

Thats what I've read from the situation as well. I might be critical of a lot the club has done re list management, but I just can't see them deliberately shafting Adam and pushing him out for the sake of saving a few dollars.

It’s hard to fathom, isn’t it?

There are a few contributing factors I can identify, and no doubt many I can’t...
1) Trading out four first rounders for Treloar and Beams - instead of four best-22 spots being filled by relatively cheap (on first contract) players, we paid big money to have one best-22 spot filled.
2) Failures of Scharenberg, Freeman, Kennedy, Broomhead, McLarty - see above.
3) Atrocious injury lists - making player assessment and development challenging, players are kept longer on the list than they should without contributing.
4) Use of the rookie list as an old folks home - prevents taking a scattergun approach to young, cheap talent and turning the list over
5) Overpriced contract offers to FAs - 3 years to Mayne that even Buckley couldn’t fathom, Greenwood, Wells...
6) Long-term injured players on long contracts - see Langdon, Beams, Broomhead... we couldn’t get any return on them.
7) Period of finals without flags - denied access to top draft capital but not winning flags where players might sacrifice money for sustained success (Pendles excluded)
It's a trail of destruction....

Yep I’m also done. The silence is deafening. So off this club.

Agree, this is getting quite ordinary behaviour by the club, if these reports are true, particularly thinking of the problems AT has described about his mental health battles in the past, surely this action by the club has not helped, pretty disgusting actually.

It all comes back to that 2018 off season. We went all in after 2018 and paid big money to bring in Beams and signed Langdon to a significant deal. Those two combined are commanding over 1mil of our salary cap for 2021 and neither have played in 2 years.

While all the other points you mentioned are valid, if we didn't sign Beams and let Langdon walk we would be sitting pretty right now with significant cap space. Hindsight is a wonderful thing, but every single person on here wanted us to bring beamer back and re sign Langdon after his near BOG performance in a GF.

If we really are stuck with that Beams contract for another 2 years, I wonder if we could explore an AFL first and trade assets to Adelaide to take on that contract while they rebuild. It happens all the time in the NBA, maybe you trade them a second rounder to take the Beams contact.

Just why I losing Faith in our Once Great Club

Haha but the midfield battering isn’t a repeat anomaly that happens in every big game this club has played in the last 3 years? Did you forget all of them too? Ok mate 😂😂😂

We never had the benefit of playing Pendles, Adams, Treloar and Sidebottom in the same side this year. Not once. Any way you dice it that hurts. I think our midfield is good enough (though could use another on ball rotation for depth). I think our midfield strategy needs improvement.

Why do so many people care about losing Treloar this is a good thing this club cannot win a flag with the current list and obviously the coaches now see it aswell
What benefit is there
- clear cap space? It can be done by shredding many other players, and there was enough space for Cameron
- get a top end draft pick? It can be done by trading firsts with the dogs and upgrading from there if wanted, not to mention Reef and Daicos will already be coming in

What it does do is weaken our midfield and it completely rips apart the culture the club has built.

That's fine, if the club feels we need to change, but if these reports are true, then the club is going about it the wrong way, in terms of respect for Treloar.

Lot of Members and Fans will/have lost Respect for our Once Great Club

The question I would pose to Rendell based off the 'caring' narrative is - what happens when her one year contract (maybe) is up in Gold Coast and they want to return to Victoria - but Adam is contracted for 4+ years at GC?
I believe the plan was for her to play for the firebirds for at least 2-3 years, living in Vic in the offseason. Pretty sure that netball contracts are done season by season for all players.

Disgusted. And we’ll use the ‘his family is moving to QLD as a rental’ as the motivating factor to move him on, against his wishes.
Can’t wait for Ads to tell the world how badly we treated him. As we all know, we’re not a destination club so it’ll be funny when we continue to get turned down for years to come.

I doubt this is playing out the way it's being portrayed by the media.

Don’t complain when ‘a big fish’ refuses to come then. The Treloar saga from the clubs side of the argument, if at all true of course, is hardly a ringing endorsement to sell to a potential FA is it?
