George is still to unco for me.Who would you rather around the ball when Jack and Lynch bring ball to ground for crumbling etc Rioli ,Stengle and Butler or George.

You'd almost have to do a pro-con list for Castagna, Butler, Bolton, Stengle and even Baker to sort the best from the worst and even then that's just opinion given none of us are coaching at Richmond. I think it's also important to not get caught up in the hype, to borrow a saying from American Football, the most popular player on the team is the back up Quarterback because he MIGHT be better, not because he is.

To backtrack, I might even start a thread on who the board believes our best small forwards are and why using something like this

Castagna
+
Speed
Defensive Pressure
Accumulator (compared to every other Small Fwd)

-
Fumbles

etc.

Bolton has one thing to do over pre-season, actually two. Build his tank and get AFL big. It wouldn't hurt for him to follow Lambo around.
Did he actually re-sign in the end?
There was a story about it a few weeks ago...

George has ran his race I think.

It’s Bolton’s time to shine I would have thought.
I am not sure that George has run his race, he had a poor finals series, but is playing the hardest role in the game. I reckon he's a keeper even if Bolton and/or Baker go past him we need depth. I'm in favor our small forwards getting more midfield time next year too, let's see what they are capable of further up the ground

Andrew Moore killed the VFL grand final- just shows the gap in the 2 levels

it does but with all due respect to andrew and the vfl, mitch grigg racked up 30 and kicked 6 from the guts in front of 40,000 punters, BOG and best player in the SANFL for the last 2 years

now that’s killing it, but the gap is as you say significant. there are no guarantees

Rancey seems to have lost the fire a bit. Would the backline with Garth function without him if Dimma tried him at CHF with Jack as an experiment? Could even pinch hit in the ruck as his whack inflatable tube man routine would confuse the shit out of opposition ruckmen

Hes played 52 games and just turned 22. Would be crazy to think hes reached hes peak especially since he essentially just had his 2nd full year of AFL.
He upped is goals per game from 1.0 to 1.2, behinds per game from 0.8 to 1.1 and goal assists per game from 0.4 to 0.6 this year. Tackles only dropped from 3.0 to 2.9.
I would back him in his 3rd full year to be able to hit 1.5 goals per game by being a bit more consistent and turning some of those behinds into goals.

What George has over any other small forward we have is he gets in scoring positions way more than the rest.
Bolton has shown absolutely nothing since his few great crumbing goals in 2017.

Rance is certainly going to slow down pretty soon, as he relies on his smarts and athleticism. However at worst he does like Scarlett and becomes an attacking half back flanker. The worst thing to do with a player who is slowing down in a role that requires athleticism, is to put him in another role that requires athleticism.

We will be one less small in our setup , George needs to go back to vfl and be in Liston fav form before he’s even short listed , as does graham. We can’t carry players that get 3-4 kicks a game when their direct opponents get 35-40 our standard needs to be higher
