Trades arent gonna be simple these days, and also lots and lots of trades rely on other deals being done
When your dealing with players who are low on the pecking order ie Crozier Impey Honeychurch Crameri those deals get done late while the big fish deals get done so relying on picks in return to make other trades for these smaller trades just won't happen.

Trades have become more simple these days than getting more convoluted no longer do we see three and four way team trades because they are to hard and to many moving pieces to get done.

That is the AFC statement, in his interview he mentions Melbourne specifically.
Melbourne Football Club or the City as no one has come out and said the Dees . Will it most likely be the Dees? Yes

Wow wee. The melts on the Adelaide board
I honestly don't rate him as highly as others no way is he worth the 700 or 800k he is asking for.
And there is reports out there the Melb players are a little pissed off too that there throwing this money at Lever and in doing so having to ship Watts out to fit him in under salary cap. Watts is really liked by the playing group at Melbourne and the players are pissed.

BREAKING:

Adelaide have released the following statement on Jake Lever.

"Jake Lever has informed the Adelaide Football Club that he wishes to join a Victorian football club in 2018.

Crows Head of Football Brett Burton said the Club was extremely disappointed with Jake’s decision and will now consider all its options.

“Our members and supporters should rest assured that we will make decisions that are in the best interests of our football club first and foremost,” Burton said."

We might release something similar if Stringer decides on a club - "....Stringer decided he wants to be traded to a Victorian club. We'll start discussions with those Victorian clubs who have an interest in Jake...."

Lever might have nominated Melbourne and Stringer might nominate Geelong but deals with Adelaide and the Bulldogs also have to be struck before the players can move clubs with any certainty of outcome. Remember Deledio nominated Geelong but Richmond could only strike a deal that satisfied it with GWS. Where is Deledio? Adelaide too have shown they are no pushovers in the trade stakes. Let's hope we are the same.

Wonder what Sam Weideman would be worth?
Has no tank and is athletically average. Never seen any signs to suggest that he can kick more than 2, 3 goals in any particular game - production in his draft year was poor for a pick 9. Don't believe he'll make the grade. I'm not really thinking about his price as he shouldn't really be on our radar.

If we should get pick #11 for Stringer, and if the Crows should want two 2017 first rounders for Lever, would you trade our then pick #11 for the Dees 2018 first rounder?
Absolutely. If it is a weaker draft as suggested, pick 11 this year could be the equivalent to 15 or so next year (who knows how Melbourne would go anyway). Also if no mature age targets are available this year, another first rounder gives us more ammunition next year if someone pops up.

In theory it sounds good but when your relying on deals to get done and then on trading it rarely works or happens. Firstly Ess aren't going to part with pick 11 without a serious long drawn out fight. So if Dees are looking for another first rounder to get Lever deal done they are going to go to clubs who already have multiple first rounders and try and do a deal there. In happy happy la la land where the Stringer deal gets done early sure but in common sense real life it aint gonna happen

and as said above why not just trade their own 2018 first rounder?
