I wonder if Dunkley moving on will be a good thing for Treloar and getting him to buy into the club a bit more. I agree with some observations that Treloar is a 'cultural ostrich'. Regardless of how the money works, he is our second highest-paid player at $900k a year, so we should expect more from him. I just haven't seen the passion and spirit in his game. I feel like he is a star on loan to us playing representative matches.
I want to see some 'ice in the veins' celebration like a Bailey Smith, or 'high fives all round' like a Josh Bruce or 'get the f*ck off him' like a Libba or 'wanna see me jump on your head again' like Naughton or some 'Get on my back boys, we're winning this one' like Bont.
Just don't get the vibe from Treloar.
True.

Given what we know now about Dunkley clearly not being a fan of the club, we all know how that sort of negativity can permeate amongst mates.

Agreed this has Daddy written all over it.

Read this and then the picture becomes clearer...

“It’s great now he’s in Melbourne, we get to spend every weekend with him. It’s pretty special.”

Remind me how long it takes to drive from Yarram to Brisbane again? Mustn’t be too far.

“It’s great he’s still in Australia, we get to spend every Christmas with him. It’s pretty special.”

Absolutely. When he first joined the dogs and there were no crowds and limited canned noise, you could here Josh's passion and energy on the field. I loved the way he celebrated his teammates goals, marks and generally good play. He is a team-first man, someone you'd want on your side.
This is why I won't give up on him like so many others have. He's embraced our club and his teammates. He deserves our faith and loyalty.

Aren't the Dunkley's very well off? I wouldn't be shocked if he's semi-retired and planning on spending a significant portion of their time at their Noosa house.

Yeah, parents have their own transport/towing/machinery company, and believe there's already a family Qld residence, more the (alleged) justification of "being closer to family" claims against J.Dunkley for the move. It's all a p1sstake, not sure anyone knows his real reason/s for leaving, some or all of:

  • closer to family (i.e. Noosa as you say)
  • partner originally from Qld
  • $$$
  • lack of professionalism at VUWO, in the hub, out of the hub, Hunter/Baz
  • lack of faith in the coach for whatever reason (game-plan? who knows)
  • $$$
  • thinks Zorko will be a better podcast partner than Treloar
  • bland/brand better suits Qld/Lions!
  • struggle to reconcile his elite tackling with far-from-elite kicking action
  • warmer Qld climate will enhance his recorded cooking segments
  • can borrow his sister's netball outfit for Mad Monday in first week or 2 of finals next year

Andrew must have overcome the financial blow of not being handed a coaching role just because he wanted one then.
Overcame it so much he's run a successful transport/towing/machinery company well before his interview with Sheehan!

Seems to hold a grudge just for the sake of it.

I'm not going to give the ostrich-tamer free publicity, but his company is easy to find online searching surname and one of the categories above.

Me too. I wanna by pass Lobb and give juice another chance. Hell I’d install him as forwards coach over the bloke we have got currently.

Excellent observation except for the part re Bailey Smith who is still needs to buy into the team/club ethos.

I had the courage to listen to the Ads and Dunks podcast when they had Naughton on. They were glowing in praise for Naughton's professionalism and Ads proceeded to tell Naughton that if he played for a bigger Melbourne club he would be more well known. I get the impression that he still see the bulldogs as a step down.

Why is Dunkley being boring all of a sudden such an issue?
Macrae doesn’t seem overly exciting he’s ok though.
Bont can’t get through a sentence without taking big gulps of air, would be a nightmare to talk to, he’s ok at footy though.
Dale looks like a bit of a nerd, can’t imagine him being overly exciting.
Not sure about English, but his haircut doesn’t exactly exert charisma.

Dunklys personality seems fine, and the cooking stuff was for club sponsorship, I’m sure he could do better if he had to cook an over glazed lamb shank, with a side of cous cous, rather than a boring wrap.

Lighten up Francis.

Neither of them are trying to be online influencers masquerading as footballers on the weekend.
That, and sour grapes that a good player is leaving us.

Yep, and instead of taking on a leadership role to make us bigger and better, he shows up, plays the game and collects his paycheck. The football equivalent of 'quiet quitting'. Hopefully, our football leaders can sit down and have some constructive conversations with him. It will be better for the club and more fulfilling for him personally.

GC have one of my kidneys if they want in return for Ballard?
Lucky he's not at Essendon, Dodoro would want two of your kidneys
