The top end in 2018 was terrific, but I can’t remember there being much hype about it being a super draft.

I paid a lot of attention to 2003 because we had #1+4 but I remember there being a lot of hype. Fergus Watts ThE NexT CaReY etc.

Plenty of drafts have been total duds. The proof of the pudding is in the eating, so you never know for a few years. It’s what makes those ‘who won the draft’ articles so pointless.
2018 was definitely hyped up from early on to be a 'superdraft'.

There were many such examples like this article: https://www.theaustralian.com.au/sp...t/news-story/d6da0c4c129b24895b5e202a4c38eb79

Lol at the change it attitude and justification now of the deal in trading out Dunkley. Before the rhetoric on this thread was 2 first rounders and we won't accept futures otherwise we will walk him to PSD. How things change in a few days!

Brisbane did well and we didn't get fair value for Dunkley. They even had the audacity to trade out pick 15 and got it done with 21 lol.

Yeah real well Hannan Bruce Scott McComb OBrien Martin are all just list cloggers at their age and all his picks

You realise delistings haven't been completed yet, right? So just hold the negativity cannon until after that alright? I know you're keen to unleash and predict a wooden spoon...

Wait until Brisbane find out how s*** a kick he is.

He was uncontracted it sucks but we were always going to get unders. The result we got was a lot better than initially offered by Brisbane and we didn't use 21 for Lobb. The package we got was pretty much the equivalent of 2 first rounders. Power did well given the circumstances, some of the offers reported won't worth taking and the PSD seemed a better option, taking this deal was defs the better option though.

Yes I believe it is. I believe clubs were told it might happen during the season and only just confirmed friday from the understanding of clubs like tigers advised against trading out rucks.
We finally move to one ruck with a decent chop out and other clubs move to 2 genuine rucks 🙄😂

From how I understand the rumours, what he engaged in this season was certainly sackable behaviour. Some metnal health issues and genuine attempts to work through it with him meant it wasn't all cut and dry but certainly there.

For people asking about the details and saying "PM me" etc. The rumours actually not that interesting. It wasn't any events that would create a news story or something as as the Zordy/Toyd bust-up. It's more to do with the erosion of trust with teammates and the expectations in from teammates in a competitive team environment, especially as how Lachie interacted with others outside the club. Club wanted him gone and basically 16 of 17 other clubs wanted nothing to do with him. The fact that we're saving more than a minimum contract amount in salary over the next 2 years, plus got a pick of any worth above 0 is an absolute bonus in this situation. It's a lot more likely that Melbourne will find a way to delist Hunter after a year and pay out the rest of his second contract than it is he'll return to his B&F form, in my view (with the most likely scenario somewhere in the middle. Just making the point that one extreme is more likely than the.
Appreciate the intel.

Do you know if Hunter was part of the reason that Dunkley left?

Love how Fox / David King have given us a C grade for trade week.

This is despite us trading Dunks for overs in comparison to what they were saying he was worth over the last few days

Completely unrelated but Tigers getting Taranto and Hopper reminds me so much of Hawthorn grabbing Mitchell, O'Meara and Wingard post the 3 peat.

Reckon it goes completely unstuck and the tigers in 5 years will be in the same position Hawthorn are now.
Richmond have drafted some very good young players, unfortunately I think they will be more like Geelong.

I don’t recall Hawthorn having any youth coming through when they topped up (other than sciscily)

Richmond have:
Bolton
Ross
Rioli
Balta
Cumberland
Gibcus

All of the above would be under 25.

Might not be as dire but they have all of Cotchin, Martin, Riewoldt, lynch, Prestia, Grimes, Tarrant, all 30plus next season. Core players in midfield and in key forward/back positions.

And completely wiped out of 2 drafts in a row.

Broad, Vlaustin and Nankervis aren’t exactly young either.

There key position stocks will
be light.

They might be able to plug those holes with free agents though.

GWS better do the right thing and bid on Ashcroft, Brissy only have 2400 points left so can only match a bid on Ashcroft, not sure why they’re all celebrating their great 2023 draft hand on the dunks thread - 1x 2nd rounder and a couple of 3rd rounders. Of which will get downgraded again to cover Fletcher - probably out of the 2nd round if a bid comes on Ashcroft at 1.

They’ve obviously had a great trade period to bring in Dunks, Gunston to go with the luck of getting Ashcroft & Fletcher, but they’ve had to completely dismantle two draft years to do so. Of course every club would do that but its not like they’ve done a superb job to turn two years worth of draft picks into that haul - any club would have achieved that quite easily

Pickering having a sook that we must have wanted a F4

Guessing they offered 21 F1 F2
For Dunkley F3 F4

And Power was like no give us a F4 too
Sammy asking for the F4 just like Kevin Costner asking for David Putney in Trading Day the movie.

Brisbane thought they had a deal and Sammy said “that deal is off the table, we live in a different world than we did 30 seconds ago, I want a future 4th now as well”

GWS won't bid.
