Dunkley is averaging 25 touches and a goal a game, his disposal can frustrate but I don't think there are many averaging that.
Just to add to that, Finally has had a very good year, despite playing forward a lot which has had an impact on his disposal numbers. He is 10th amongst midfielders for goals, second amongst midfielders for marks and 7th for contested marks. Also 10th ranked player in the competition for tackles, is rated elite for pressure acts and one percenters and 10th ranked player in the competition by the AFL player ranking system.
He's been really consistent and his ability to win contests has helped us get over the line in some close games.

Angus Brayshaw hasn’t requested a trade 2 years in contract though.
So what, has there been any indication that his concerns from that time haven't been addressed or that he is currently unhappy with the club?

FWIW he could sign on tomorrow and all the speculation would be for nothing. I'm very happy to keep him. Personally I'd try and trade Hunter to free up some cap to accomodate dunks but Hunter is contracted, he would have to agree to a trade and we wouldnt get much for Hunter if we tried to force him out.

I think it's fair though to raise questions/concerns about Dunkley when there is 4 rds to go, he is still yet to sign and he has requested a trade in the past.

If his career hadn't been derailed by an ankle syndesmosis injury & a shoulder injury in consecutive years, on top of being played out of position to start 2019, we'd be talking about a 2-3xAA inside mid that averages 30 touches, 6 tackles, 2+ goals/assists.

His a prick, HE will move on for cash$. WEST will replace him.

I can see him being offered 800K/4years elsewhere.

He wants to be a pure midfielder. He's never going to get that at the dogs.

I can see multiple clubs in victoria coming for him. If Collingwood clear the decks they would, St Kilda, Hawthorn, Essendon.

He'd have serious suitors. He's the main big bodied mid at all of those clubs.

Libba is 30 and injury prone. I'd have dunkley slotting into his spot very quickly.

I think Dunks stays. There's no Vic club links and the SA links are about his gf playing netball there which is for a short period of the year.

Jones had an incredible one on one record last year, far better than May and Weitering. How isn’t that the best possible type of player needed for the current list?

and we don't have to give anything up to get him.

Everyone wants us to get Bruce Doull but KPDs are hard to come by.

Libba”s body is holding up just as well as his football.

Our most consistent and important player IMO

A sleeping dog for both Dunks and Bailey Smith would be Hawthorn. They have a war chest and they'd both slot in well to their midfield.

I know a player at the Hawks and according to him they are very confident they can lure Smith with a Godfather offer. Sam Mitchell is a massive fan. Tom Mitchell is also good mates with Baz and has no doubt been in his ear.

So on the recent Adam Treloar and Josh Dunkley podcast, Adam Treloar made a joke about Josh Dunkley always flying to Adelaide for his girlfriend and to "check out other things". Not saying it's anything, just thought it was a bit odd.

If he leaves, we get a decent first rounder for him, I'm not too fussed. Obviously I'd prefer to keep him but I don't want to have to worry about it every 2-3 years so either he commits long term or he goes elsewhere, imo.

Our first priority should be a key defender - both for the immediate goal of a premiership and strengthening the list over the medium term.
Whether we lose Dunk's or not, we need to off-load a mid and get North Melbourne's Ben McKay.

I don't know whether it is possible to get North to release him but we have a number of good options to help them rebuild their midfield. They also have a very good ageing ruckman who is entirely surplus to the requirements of a club going thru a rebuild.

Throw McKay into our defence, with Goldstein/English Ruck combination and we start 2023 as flag favourites.

As for Liam Jones - he is freebie - and he gives us great depth to assault over the next 2-3 years.

Addressing our deficiencies with the likes of Lobb strikes me as folly. Word from Freo is that he hates the Ruck, he will want $700k a season, and his not a team player.

Dunkley/Smith are key signings IMO. They're best 22 for the next 5+ years or so unless they have a catastrophic injury.

JJ and Hunter aren't as important in the short/long term. Already on the outter of the 22 and Hunter has been a liability the last couple years TBH. Mental health or not you can't expect to show up for half a year at work and think it's fine. Happy for JJ to check out his options. Been a good servant but his form doesn't match his current price tag.

Hopefully Power can work out a deal with West Footscray or Sunshine thirds to pick up JJ, it may cost us a couple of $100k for one of them to take him but it would be a worthwhile deal.

No denying his value and he becomes a pseudo-key forward with his marking, but he doesn't offer much flexibility. His woefully poor field kicking - espeically when he has to stop, think, make decisions and kick over the top of the mark and execute that skill, as opposed to just kicking quickly before the mark has been manned - just limits teams. We have coached him this season to look for handballs after marks at all opportunities, but we can do that because we have aggressive half-back flankers like Dale and Daniel, on top of midfielders like Smith, he can hand it too.

It means that it limits the type of ball movement a team is required to have otherwise he's just a player who can't kick the ball.

He might have less value at other clubs who don't need his stoppage value, because those clubs don't have a defence that looks to get attacking handball receives like we do with Dale.

Bruce Doull was/is 185cm according to Wiki. Bit short for KPD. But saying that, John Nichols was only 5ft 2 - a legal dwarf - and he was a dominant ruckman. They were very different times.

Many years ago I ran into Rene Kink who is only 183cm. I asked him how he played in the ruck at his height and just shrugged his shoulders and said "I could jump". Amazing how players get bigger each generation.

I think Ads was just taking a cue from the chat, with a wink. Dunks’ gf only plays a 3-month season and can spend most of the rest of the year in Melbourne. I just can’t imagine him going interstate, too many business and family interests in Victoria. The profile of SA players is low to nonexistent and Dunks goes for publicity.
