I want all of Duursma, Harmes & Coffield. Throw in Watson and that round 1 bottom end is much improved on Poulter, Scott, McLean & VDM from our round 24 team.

Also I know a lot of people don’t agree but I’d still have the option of Ed red moving to the midfield for anyone with concerns on our future midfield.
As do I. That's not to say I want him there in the next couple of seasons but he could easily make that transition at 26-27 to bridge the gap for when Libba & Treloar drop off.

It’s easier to digest if you think of it as Croft being drafted next year not this year.

If he was eligible next year, we would have traded our 1st for a heap of later picks anyway. We’ve just done it a year early and helped us trade up to the elite part of the draft as well.
Then we have p1ssed away the Dunkley pick

As another posters said, consider Croft being taken with next years first and 10 and 17 being swapped for 4. It’s actually a pretty good deal.

Club obviously rates Croft pretty highly and may have some knowledge on a bid coming earlier than first thought.
The theory comes a little unstuck if we fall down the ladder and our theoretical F1 for Croft ends up being a top 5 pick for a FS who might be valued in the teens.

I know a few here are against it. But what is the harm in TRYING? We have a few HB types. Red has the tools to be a powerful two way MID. He is a gun at HB, but what if he is a bigger gun in the guts? At least try it, can always just go back if it doesn't work out.

He's definitely played plenty of midfield minutes in the under 18's this season and he could do it at AFL level too. It would never be on a full time basis and similar to what Papley does as the Swans.
Possibly get him in to play the small forward role whilst he develops his tank which would then allow weightman to play midfield minutes and all some pace and zip around the ball

Surely we move one of Croft or Naughton back ?

We shouldn't be drafting anymore key position players. We have enough

Getting the 3 of them is going to be the challenge. We can't trade future picks now that we have traded our F1 can we?
What we have is not going to be enough to get all of them, in fact it might only get us 1 of them given we'll have to match a bid on croft.
As I stated a few pages back, Tom Morris saying Duursma didn't tour with us over the weekend, and is most likely headed to the junkies. Not sure what the dee's and saints want but my guess is we might only be able to do 1 of them.

On face value 3 first rounders for pick 5 is terrible.
I imagine they have strategies and reasons for it.They are professionals. And obviously future drafts strategy included. And have obviously identified a player this year.
But to lose Dunkley
for nothing stings.
And if we finish lower next year.A lot of pain.

You’re right. I didn’t add our academy/ father son picks due them already being tied to us. But it’s an excellent point though. I’m excited for us to be picking high and having the opportunity to pick who we want at the top. We haven’t missed in a very long time when given the opportunity

Think it's a good trade in the end. Instead of getting one 1st round player (Croft) this year and one 1st round player next year (likely mid-1st round), we get one top 5 talent this year plus Croft. Makes a lot of sense.

Only issue now would be Croft not nominating as a FS :tearsofjoy:

Power said an hour ago that he is “confident Croft will nominate dogs”

This deal wouldn’t have been done if he wasn’t sure.

We won't but if we wanted to we could. We can trade a future 3rd (because we have 2 now) and we also have whatever we get for Sweet.

Port also traded their future first so can't trade out their 3rd next year now.

I’m hoping Duursma is part of our Sweet trade with Port.

Not a player I’d normally want the club to be actively chasing, but turning Sweet and possibly a steak knives pick in to a player that walks on to one of our wings or half fwd roles and plays it better than those we have at the moment, is a win.

Although top end talent is what every club wants, we have real needs when it comes to our B and C Graders. The bottom 6 players in our team need a desperate upgrade. Coffield, Harmes and Duursma is a great start.
