I’m hoping Duursma is part of our Sweet trade with Port.

Not a player I’d normally want the club to be actively chasing, but turning Sweet and possibly a steak knives pick in to a player that walks on to one of our wings or half fwd roles and plays it better than those we have at the moment, is a massive win.

Although top end talent is what every club wants, we have real needs when it comes to our B and C Graders. The bottom 6 players in our team need a desperate upgrade. Coffield, Harmes and Duursma is a great start.
I'd be very shocked if Duursma was anywhere other then Essendon next year.

We basically get Watson (assume so), Harmes (GC pick) Croft and hopefully Duursma (GC pick) for 10, 17 and let's say 10 again next year.

I know a few here are against it. But what is the harm in TRYING? We have a few HB types. Red has the tools to be a powerful two way MID. He is a gun at HB, but what if he is a bigger gun in the guts? At least try it, can always just go back if it doesn't work out.
That’s the way I see it mate, nothing to lose if it doesn’t work out so be it throw him back. I think it’s worth a try over preseason a little bit and during the year when we need to change something up ie we had a few opportunities this year when we were getting pantsed by bigger quicker mids. Why not try an athletic big bodied guy with burst speed and a defensive mindset

With player trades Essendon are like that person that continually b******* their way into jobs they aren't every remotely qualified for ahead of far more qualified candidates. Talk themselves up to lure players across and then disappoint every year.

It’s astounding the amount of players that end up at Essendon.

Facilities that sit in the grounds of an Airport, shambolic coaching and administration for the last 10-15 years, no finals win in 20. And they play most games at the minnow stadium like the rest of us smaller clubs.

They must have some gun salesman at the club because the players nominating them are making probably the worst career decision a player could make.

They clearly think they're still a big club. 😂

It's basically a player conceding they don't want to play finals again.

Maybe it's cause they got the best drugs!!! 😉

I was just thinking that Essendon could use another shortish front-runner.
The ball follows him, which is actually to his detriment because he's a half forward who can't kick the ball over 35 metres of distance and also has no accuracy for the goals or for a teammate.

By losing Gresham the saints have achieved the very definition of addition by subtraction.

If the bottom falls out next year it will hurt, but if we end up with a star mid and Croft from the three picks we have likely done fine.

There are some stars taken later, but the best players in the league are disproportionately first round picks, mostly early first round.

We already have English, Naughton, Richards, Smith, Weightman, JUH and Darcy as talented first rounders. Two more fills the bucket nicely.

Odds on it's Watson.
He's great - projects as a gun HF with excellent ball use.
He's not a small FP pressure forward but perhaps he starts that way

Music to my ears. We are building a very solid foundation.
I'd really prefer a gun mid.
It is what it is. I actually think there are some decent kids who are draftable later this year. I don't think this year is as shallow as some say

Where would a compo pick for Tim English fall if he leaves as a free agent considering we don't actually have a first round pick? After our original pick?
