Another consideration regarding Roarke Smith is whether he is 100% recovered from his plantar fasciitis. From personal experience this is a beast of a condition that can take many months or even years to get right. If this is still an issue, in no way would I re-sign him.

The last almost full page has just been BL quoting posts to catch up 🤣🤣 there's a multi quote function just an FYI.
The best use of the ignore function I've ever made

These big plays are weapons where managers use them to get more money for their players either way.

Bidding team has little to lose - they with get a player often for f’all (they don’t pay compo) and if they get the player - normally a proven star they win, if they lose the other team is forced to pay overs and decrease their ability to poach and cause the play to see a loss - ie if a year on contract and they are held the player loses increased cash.

Take McKay - North loses a current proven best 10 player and get a maybe player that will take years to be best 10. No way that is equal. Every other team get penalised by being moved back in the draft - especially players with top 10 picks. The Dopers pay what they would already have to pay for a star - don’t have to earn it or develop the player and give up no draft assets.

We have JUH, English and Smith - who will all be trade targets next year. Keeping them all will be a miracle - it is also a good indictment that we have such in demand talent.

Raiding teams will try different tactics - Essendon and Brisbane try to spread bad blood - “you aren’t been treated well” etc, Geelong offers the beach, consistent performance and probably a house accidentally falls in your lap, others add go home factor or use their extra money to chase you (Sydney, GC, GWS).

We need to offer something? What is it. 2015 and 2016 we were a team that players wants to play for.

We lost all the coaches who were part of that and heart and soul leaders players loved like Wood and Bob and Morris.

In business a famous people rule - is “people don’t leave bad companies they leaver bad managers” - to me this part of the problem and the solution for us.

We should be the team people want to play for - a fun positive energy place that allows people who are bit misunderstood to shine. In 2016 we didn’t have many stars but we did have plenty of misunderstood souls who found their place - a larger chunk of our stars were either rookie picks or late picks but the energy was so positive across the board that it was electric - just compare how they sung the song then versus now - of spoke about each other - or smiled - or the hint of the players and belief in themselves (locking the ball into the forward line - extended pressure leading to a turn over etc).

We can’t live in the past but I do believe we have a core culture we can get back and with this we will hold great players and create new ones.

Ok how:

  • Coaching team that are demonstrably positive energy - people like Craig ex-Adelaide and recent retirees like we had in 2016 - could we attract Selwood?
  • Bring back Bob and Morris as High Performance coaches
  • Get another one wood that brings positive energy like tackling - bring a positive energy rugby league or union coach and a wrestling or MMA coach - commit to being best in the league at it - a joint mission.
  • Create mini squads in squads of three/four (Seal Teams) to develop deeper connections and create competition internally like:

Forwards

  • Marra, West, Lobb and Flea
  • Naughty, Artie and Darcy and Khamis

Mids

  • English, Bont, Trelor, Libba
  • Lobb, Macrae, Smith, Harmes

Defenders

  • Jones, Coffield, Duryea and JJ
  • Keath, JOD, Red and Dale

Runners

  • Williams, Baker, Scott
  • Daniel, Poulter, Roarke

Other players rotate through those teams to find the best fit and connection and allow us to try different options and I am particularly interested in how our young high potential stars develop like: Cleary, García, Bedendo, Gallagher, Clarke etc and of course new draftees.

English really protected Bont that day as most other rucks would. Best player in a game we were smashed yeah right.

Where did I say he was the best player in the game. I said he was our only winner on the field that day and clarified that he was not clearly pantsed.

You have high expectations if you expect a skinny 20 year old to be an enforcer.

Haven’t been following the trade stuff much ,
are we still getting Coffield ?

Yep, doesn't look like any issues there, Saints sorting out bigger issues first. Apparently very close for a pick in the 40s ish (maybe late swaps) and should get done tomorrow.

DOGS' ACADEMY PROSPECT KEEN TO JOIN

PLENTY has been made of the Western Bulldogs' father-son prospect Jordan Croft heading to the club at this year's draft, but the Dogs also have access to an exciting half-back through their Next Generation Academy.

Luamon Lual, an attacking, rebounding defender from the Greater Western Victoria Rebels, is tied to the Bulldogs' NGA with the Vic Country talent's parents both born in South Sudan before coming to Australia.

Under NGA rules, the Bulldogs will be able to match a bid for the speedy defender if he is still available after pick No.40, with his draft range expected to start in the second round. He spoke with the club at the Draft Combine and is keen to get to Whitten Oval.

"I'd love to go to the Dogs, I obviously have a soft spot for them. But the opportunity to be in the AFL system is a dream and I'd be happy to go anywhere. But I'd love to go to the Dogs," Lual told AFL.com.au.
"I caught up with them earlier in the year and they said they'd catch up later in the year. I'm interested in going anywhere and will take that opportunity when it comes."

Lual, who ran the 20-metre sprint in 3.05 seconds at the Draft Combine and 6:20 for the 2km time trial, trained with the Dogs as part of his NGA program in the pre-season and said he had taken plenty from the experience.

"Having the opportunity to train with the Doggies really gave me great motivation to be the best player I can be for the rest of the season. After seeing what they do and how they go about it, I tried to implement those things into my year and I was happy with how it went," he said.

"As a backman, I had a bit to do with Bailey Dale and was able to see how he works on his skills pre and post-training. I got a 15-minute burst in the match simulation and it was a fast game. It was a crazy experience." – Callum Twomey

I wanna see Matty Boyd back at the club in some haste. Hopefully whilst Bevo is still with us. A hard campaigner. Would be an excellent influence of private school soft c**ks like Bailey Smith.

Boydy got the absolute most out of himself and it wasn’t through rooting his team mates pregnant wifes and 5 day benders on ice after a beat and fairest.

Rob Murph - not so much. Wokeism appeared to have peaked and we are back to bread and butter, blue collar realism - FFC.

Matthew Boyd just extended his contract at Freo - and went to a Catholic Independent school (Mazenod).
Bob's from Warragul which isn't exactly Toorak.

He'll be one hell of a bullgod then 😮

MARRA TO HANG THEM UP

August 17, 2036

Bulldog captain Jamarra Ugle-Hagan has announced that this season will be his last. The retirement of the champion forward, who turned 34 years old earlier this year, will bring down the curtain on one of the most durable and successful careers of the modern era. An integral part of the Bulldog's historic 'six-peat' run of premierships, Ugle-Hagan departs the game with a swag of honours, including - but not limited to - three Norm Smith Medals, back-to-back Brownlow Medals in 2029-30 and, perhaps the most remarkable achievement of all, his record-breaking 2031 season in which he obliterated Bob Pratt's and Peter Hudson's record of 150 goals in a season by booting 173 majors - an achievement made all the more remarkable by the fact that he missed five games through suspension after belting ageing GWS veteran Toby Greene in the opening round.

Seated next to senior coach Clay Smith at his press conference yesterday, the man they call 'Marra' made the shock announcement to a stunned press gallery. "I understand that this will come as a shock to many," he reflected. "Particularly as I am a fair bit younger than the Bont, and he shows no sign of letting up at 41 years of age. But I feel that it's time. I have a few interests outside of footy, but I still hope to be connected to this great club in some shape or form going into the future. Right now, I'm just focused on our next finals campaign."

Mofra - I’m not into fact checking - it is 2023. Matty Boyd was a hard campaigner and I know for a FACT Bailey went to an expensive flog school. Case closed.

I also realise that half of you went to private school. I don’t mean to offend you - it was your parents choice. My family was broke and did not believe in fairy tales.
