Hello Eagles fans!

The embedded resources below are kept up to date by the trade board mods (as much as possible – we are human after all). Enjoy!

Keys you may like to sticky this post & move it to the start of the thread (so the sticky post doesn't rotate if a post is deleted before it), or copy it to your draft thread if you have one.

GC have already 24, 27, 28, 32, 36 and 38
GC already have enough picks for players they will get 26 or 22 of Carlton
Marbior Chol will get them pick 33

I would be trying to get pick 27 or 28 of GC

Offer a future 3rd and 58 or 37 to try pick up one of those GC picks
Promise not to bid on GC academy boys

The Gold Coast list manager today said they’ll go into the draft with 6 list spots

They can only take the same number of picks as they have list spots. As it stands they gave 6x R2 picks already

Any further picks they get predraft will have to be better than their sixth pick (38) then that pick becomes surplus

Once the draft starts, however, for reasons only known to the AFL they can acquire as many picks as they like

So on the night of the draft they can trade a R2 pick for as many multiple later picks as they want to build additional points

Other clubs are similarly bound to take no more picks than they have spots so there isn’t going to be an abundance of clubs with extra picks - I went through the draft order and highlighted the clubs that currently have picks that could improve the points for GC by trading up on the night of the draft

People probably thought the same thing when we traded in Vardy, and he ended up being involved in the winning play in our premiership team.
Vardy was always good though! After a billion injuries he was below AFL average which is basically Flynn after 1x ACL.
But imagine if we had Naitanui? We win by5 goals.

Stupid way to look at pick 1. Should be looking at types of players and attributes as the pointy end of the draft, not where they were arbitrarily picked. Petracca was the highest rated in his draft year but saints decided to pick mccartin instead. Petracca is also one of the players that Reid's attributes are similar to. How about we just choose the established midfielder, instead of the guy who maybe one day can be one, who also isn't half as good in the role, as the other guy. Crazy thought?
Sou want McKercher?

So could we strike a deal on draft night where we offer to the Suns that we won’t bid on Walter?
3000 pts down to 2517pts minus the 20% exception gives you 386 pts.
Say to the suns we will meet you in the middle and give you another 50% saving.
Approximately 193 pts.
Would upgrade our pick 37 up to either pick 27 or 28 which the Suns currently hold.
Has a deal involving nothing except for a promise going one way ever been done?

Vardy and lycett basically tagged Grundy out of the game in 2018 GF . Between the 2 of them they would ruck then stop him getting all the around the ground possessions he is known for .

I doubt Natanui would have done that .

You can't under estimate the awesome job vardy and slice did that day

The whole finals series really.

Grundy x2 and Gawn.

The very least you can say is that they neutralised the two best ruckmen in the competition at the time.

I'm taking nothing away from Vardy (even though he spent all day dropping easy chest marks)

I'm just saying Naitanui + Lycett would have been an upgrade for sure.

The rucks available this year is so good.
All 4 rucks this year I rate higher then what has been drafted the last few years
including Barnett
Taylor Goad's pace to go with his frame is very exciting
In 5 years time love to see where all 4 rucks from draft are going
Raises the question as to why we took Barnett last year.

Our F4 probably holds value to them as it’s going to be at the start of the round and they are going to need points next year.
Yes-if coin convincing enough, yes same term and I can’t speak for everyone but he would plug a hold in terms of role and age profile.
F3 is the new F4.

If we traded pick 1 - Reid

Pick 2 & 3 mininum
I would take McKercher & Walter. Gold Coast matches on Walter so Durrsma.
McKercher & Durrsma at the very least thanks.
No way on God's Earth will i take a 3rd tall Defender type at pick 2/3 with midfield aspirations. Even Gossage has said Eagles will not take Curtin at 2 or 3 now.

This scenario isn't happening so just fooking take the Harley. Trading next yrs 1st is now on the cards to get a package of mid to late 1sts in this years draft.
Collard & Windsor please. Goal Kicking Wingman blistering pace. I agree ZZ we should have covered with pick 23 or whatever it is.

1 Reid - Goal Kicking Inside Mid
10 to 15 - Windsor - Goal Kicking Wingman blistering pace
10 to 18 - Collard - High Half Fwd - Goal Kicking Wingman with blistering pace
ZZ - Ruck Fwd

Good mix of inside outside.
Reid, Hewett, Ginbey, Culley, Burgiel, Chesser, Windsor, Collard

Next yr look out Busslinger & Sam Taylor - Free Agency we coming that will sort the tall backs to replace Gov & Barrass.

Oh boy am I salty tonight for absolutely no reason!

Gonna take it all out in britzoon when he inevitably pops his head up to mansplain the draft to the board for the 72nd time.
Can you wait for me to catch up on the last 3 pages, then give my thoughts on what I believe West Coast should do.

Have worried about this too.

But it's still better to take the one that dominates against nobodies than trade him away for multiple nobodies.
Reid dominated at the U18 Championships last year, when he was a 17 year old, playing against a stacked Vic Metro team.

That’s where the real hype comes from.

This thread smells.

Can always dust this off

At the risk of getting run out of this thread with torches and pitchforks, the supposed "shallowness" of this year's draft makes the decision to delist Petrevski-Seaton somewhat questionable.

I wonder if we could convince one of Ratugolea or Zerk-Thatcher to come to us through the PSD, since Port have threatened to walk both of them separately.

I don't necessarily rate either of them tbh, but ****ing over Port is more than worth a list spot.

Right, I’ve caught up.

Do you want me to explain my reasoning as to why I believe West Coast should draft Reid, and also trade next year’s first round pick (but not to pick Curtin this year).

Also why I'm still anxious.

Eagles only like it when a dominant 17 year old (or U10 in the case of Chesser) completely disappears by the time they're 18 :(

You don’t have to convince them, you can take them with the first pick of the PSD, and there’s nothing they can do about it.
