Hello Eagles fans!

The embedded resources below are kept up to date by the trade board mods (as much as possible – we are human after all). Enjoy!

Keys you may like to sticky this post & move it to the start of the thread (so the sticky post doesn't rotate if a post is deleted before it), or copy it to your draft thread if you have one.

“I would be happy to go over there”.

The “he doesn’t want to go” arguments are getting a bit tired. It will purely come down to whether ROB is given an offer he can’t refuse. I hope for him that is 2,3 and 14 for 1 and even then…

Seems like a really mature and level headed kid - would be awesome to see him in the blue and gold for a very long time. Carn ROB.

The full quote if anyone hasn't read it:

BW: If West Coast had Pick 1, Harley, and the club called your name, how ready and willing would you be to make a career of it?
HR: I would be happy to go over there. There’s obviously going to be a challenge with moving over there – but with me, it’s going to be a challenge to move to Melbourne. I haven’t left home for 18 years and I’m used to being around everyone I know there, so that challenge will be huge too and obviously take a toll. But everyone’s dream is to get drafted, so to have that opportunity in the first place is obviously huge.

Kid has to move regardless of what club drafts him so this flight risk nonsense that journos and some idiot posters on here keep flogging doesn't really seem real.

But also this:

BW: Which AFL team have you supported growing up and why?
HR: I’m a Geelong man. Dad just barracked for them and I just got on, But I’m not complaining! They’re always in the run for finals every year.

Delist.

If we pick him, he’ll be a one club player and premiership captain. I have absolutely no doubt about that whatsoever. I have zero concern about Reid’s attitude and the go home/mummy’s boy factor. The ONLY thing I’m concerned about is what ROB sees as his “special offer”. If North offer 2,3 and 14 and we accept it I’ll hate it but I’ll know it’s the best thing for the club and it won’t leave a sour taste. Anything less than 2&3 and I’m not sure I could forgive the club.

Would it be too much having Gov, Barrass and Haynes?
Haynes is 193cm and mobile enough and would play a half back flank role. Also decent cover if Gov or TB go down because I think Bazzo needs another year of development or to tide us over until we bring Buss home from the Dogs after they spend all their money on Naughton and JUH. I’m open to anything that improves our draft hand whether it be trading, salary dump etc as long as it doesn’t involve trading pick 1, Oscar or anyone drafted in the last 2 years. I’d be calling every club and asking about upgrading our picks through player trades (e.g. Yeo to GCS but ONLY if he wants a fresh start) or salary dumps (Haynes) as long as the contract is 1-2 years only. We should also be using next 2 years to totally reset our cap and make sure we have a clean slate in 2 years to pay Oscar and our elite draftees. I’m really excited about where our club is heading provide we take Reid and do the fundamentals (cap, contracts, development) right. Reid will sell out Optus first game next year mark my words.

If we got 2,3 and 14 for 1 the club should build a statue of ROB at mineral resources.

Haynes would be good insurance for (rounds 4-7, 13-16, 20-24) injured gov and developing bazzo and "deer in headlights" Rotham.....so we stop getting pumped by tex et al by 100points.

If we take Reid and a few years down the track he ends up being a bust, I can live with it. If we split the pick and they bust while Reid becomes a gun, I’d be pretty annoyed.

Just take Reid.

Unless north give up 2 x top three picks and more, it's just not worth it. Reid will walk into the side next year and perform as Daicos/Ashcroft have done.

Masten and Judd were both pick 3. Yes masten played a lot of games, but a lot of them were also terrible. They're not even comparable players despite same draft number.

It’s all about probabilities. The #1 pick is the player most likely to play the most games etc. This is a good reference for those with a passing interest:

It's common sense. No wonder we are seen as weak at the trade table.

How is pick 2 and some later picks good for pick 1. And we still giving back sweeteners for it. No deal. Take Reid and tell them where to go.

North with Reid and Curtin.🙄 They would be laughing at us and so would the rest of the comp.

You have a closed view on this obviously. Or you dont think ahead.

Turning pick 1 into 2, 14, 19, 19 and 20 is a Godfather offer.

Looks like one first round pick turns into 5 first round picks, BEFORE upgrading 14, 19, 19 and 20 into top 10 picks.

14 plus 19 equates to pick 4. 19 plus 19 equates to pick 5. Sure you dont get exactly the points, you need to give up some ground.

So we could turn those FIVE 1st rounders into something like 2, 6 and a F 2024 pick 6.

Is pick 2, 6 and a future pick 6 easier to swallow for you? Would the rest of the competition be laughing at picks 2, 6 and 6 for pick 1? Because THATS where we would likely end up if WC Phils trade demand was met.

Would you REALLY Be unhappy with a result of pick 2, 6 and a future pick 6 for pick 1? Really?

If you are unhappy then you have been sucked in by the myth being created by Ried and the Vic media.

Geelong. Noooooooooooooo!

Then again. Geelong set the rate with Kelly if it ever came to a trade. But if we got the Kelly picks back for Ried..........this board would implode.

Its $1.3 million next year.

Cats got pick 7 for Bowes salary dump. And he wasnt on $1.3M in 2023.

Difference is GWS are happy to keep him having cleared large chunks of their salary cap with Taranto and Hopper leaving, while GCS were desperate to get the money of their cap.
