Hello Eagles fans!

The embedded resources below are kept up to date by the trade board mods (as much as possible – we are human after all). Enjoy!

Keys you may like to sticky this post & move it to the start of the thread (so the sticky post doesn't rotate if a post is deleted before it), or copy it to your draft thread if you have one.

ROB is right in the centre of a tussle of States and borders , we need Mark McGowan as a consultant for a few weeks .
Quite interesting all that is happening, Reid is only one player , starting to wonder how he feels ....so much extra attention .

Kanes an idiot, but here in Victoria he gets a lot of listeners BC of his hot takes and controversial ideas. He throws mud at the wall hoping it sticks and when it actually does crows about it for weeks.

The shows always works better with a idiot in the lineup ie . Eddie’s fall guy idiot Sam Newman ..

By god I hate Gossage. Get O’Brien on then ask the most inane questions possible

I mean the question on pick 1 needed to be asked and he did as much as he could to get a definitive answer that wasn’t going to come- intent is to draft Reid unless something special is offered without getting a definition of what that would be

Acknowledged that we were not going to get Reid and Curtin which rules out doing something to get another high pick besides pick 1

Said again there’s no over riding preference for WA players

Flynn they’ve had good discussions with and are aware of interest from other clubs but expect a decision in the next day or two. Sounded reasonably confident

Will be looking at Collard and would like access before pick 40 and said there were other NGAs without naming anyone

No question on Brockman or Robertson or status of contracts with Waterman, Culley or Witherden or if anyone was likely to ask to be traded out or if we had interest in anyone else

So many questions that could’ve been asked but weren’t. Missed opportunity

Goss may have had a pre arranged questions he could ask List ..

I guess it depends on how the Flynn and BW combo works

But if BW continues to improve and Flynn can show he can be a solid B+ grade then no need for English, use the money else where
Im not a fan of english. Squib like brander/mcdougirl vibes

A pity duffield has been absent on radio the past few weeks. would have been the best local journo to lead that interview.

Backs: Cole / Barrass / Yeo
Half-Back: Duggan / McGovern / Hough
Centre: Hunt / Kelly / Hewett
Half-Fwd: Cripps / Allen / Long
Forward: Brockman / Darling / Reid
Ruck: Flynn / Ginbey / Robertson

Bench: Petruccelle / B.Williams / Gaff / Maric

Something like that? We'd have some solid options in WAFL with Chesser, J.Williams, Sheed, Burgiel, Culley, Witherden, Edwards....etc

I'm already sick of all this 'North has the best draft hand for Reid' talk and we still got another 50 days to go to the draft :) :gun:
Thank goodness we're in this position. Having come 2nd last would have been a slow torture on how far west coast's pick would have dropped.

Had we finished 2nd last our picks would be currently be 2,21,34,40,53,59 with the possibility of 2 becoming 3 after the McKay compo

Not a lot different

Ryan ?
Looks pretty good though

Just expanding on those you mentioned...
showing how many have come in

2021
Chesser (14)
Hough (31)
Bazzo (37)
J.Williams (57)
G.Clark (62)

2022
Ginbey (9)
Hewett (14)
H.Barnett (23)
Burgiel (29)
Long (58)
-
Winder (R2)
Trew (R20)

2022 MSD
Culley(1)

2023 MSD
Maric(1)

Witherden, SPS & Hunt traded in
This talk of needing more quantity is just not true. The only benefit of our terrible injury list was playing a lot of the young players drafted over the last 2 years and most have shown enough IMO to suggest they are at AFL Level

2021 Chesser, Bazzo, Hough, Williams, Culley
2022 Ginbey, Hewett, Long, Maric

With only Burgiel (injury) and Barnett (Ruck) yet to have a decent run

In fairness, at least that statement is true. It just means the price for pick 1 (and pick 4 for GC) goes up.

I'm gonna call up trade radio and ask if Fold Coast would trade pick 5 for West Coasts pick #1 in the Rookie Draft + Vardy as a sweetener.

They'll love it

:blacktelephone:
Ask them what needs to go back with 1 if we get 2, 3 and North's F1

If we get pick 2 and 3 from North, could we not offer GC 3 for pick 5 and an upgrade if we think Curtin would get through to pick 5?

I've advocated for Norf to trade down if they were so sweet on Curtin but if we got 2 and 3 and had fallen in love with him too then absolutely the play is to move back a few places and pick something else up for doing so.

FWIW ROB reckons Curtin could play back or mid at AFL level.

If we did get 2 and 3 from North I’d be asking Melbourne what they’d be willing to add to pick 6 to get ahead of Hawthorn for Duursma - could go 3 and 40 for 6 and 14

We could then draft

2 - McKercher
6 - Curtin/O’Sullivan
14 - Hardeman/Roberts/Tholstrup
21 - Zakostelsky
35 - Collard

Just saw the article on AFL site and Jackson hateley should be one we look to train on as a SSP . We lack inside mids and at worse he could play for the beagles .

His knocks are he only plays inside mid well , once paced and not damaging by foot .

But seems to be a big unit who likes the tough inside work, tackles well and can rack up possessions.

Could be that cheap option to protect the kids for a few years

Sounds like a younger Matt Crouch. Good at one position and hasnt had much chance to play it. Foot skills and leg speed get found out playing on the flanks.

A cheap option in a position of need at both AFL and WAFL level to ensure we dont play kids who arent ready to play big minutes on ball in the meat grinder.

Get him here as a train on player and see how hungry he is. We need to add competition and hunger for spots back into the squads mindset ASAP.

I like gossage. For every hater, there is a lover. Clearly he's well liked given his longevity in the business.

I’ll point you in the direction of Basil, Langdon and Barich as to longevity and they are all bellends.. harder to get sacked from a gig in Perth than get one.

Anyone got intel on Eric Benning now ex Freo rookie?

196cm.

Why was he cut? Any potential there?

Because he isn’t AFL quality.
So a pass as far as any interest from us.

Hope he is back at Claremont next year.
