Hello Eagles fans!

The embedded resources below are kept up to date by the trade board mods (as much as possible – we are human after all). Enjoy!

Keys you may like to sticky this post & move it to the start of the thread (so the sticky post doesn't rotate if a post is deleted before it), or copy it to your draft thread if you have one.

You did indeed.

This is all fair play given the thread but to me it’s madness contemplating ripping the spine out of our draft hand giving up multiple picks to hone in on an area in the draft which for me is pretty murky. Reid, Walter, McKercher and possibly Duursma, Curtin and Sanders are absolute A graders at the top. Picks 6/7-13 to me seem to under the level of talent you’d usually expect with those picks. Ollie Murphy going at around pick 14 is when I think it gets back to about right for the rest of the first round. If we are going to trade up, I’d much rather have a crack at GCS pick 4 (yes that would have to involve F1) to get an A Grader, or trade into the late first round if there’s someone there we really like (Hardeman for example). If ROB has identified someone at 7, I’d much rather go hard at the GWS Haynes and pick 6 route and punish our salary cap rather than our draft hand. I’d be happy to send back Port’s 2R or our F3 if that’s what it took but I think this is far more sensible than letting those f**kers who are still filthy about ‘92 and ‘94 bend us over a barrel again.
Haynes and pick 6 makes more sense to me than pick 7. If WB get GC's pick 4 and they and MEL take Sanders and one of Watson/Caddy, GWS surely takes Curtin ahead of whoever is left out of Watson/Caddy. I don't see WB or MEL being in the market for Curtin (I would guess WB would look at Watson/Sanders while MEL look at Watson/Caddy) so by getting up to pick 6 we make sure we aren't left scratching our heads if it all goes pear-shaped.

Cal has said we’re interested in Geelong’s pick 7. We don’t have enough ammo to get it without splitting 1, starting to think we’re going to deal it to North and trade 14 and one of their priority firsts for 7.

Geelong are looking for a Future 1st pick preferably a with a team with a Future Top ten pick ..

I’m expecting Curtin or Sanders to be available at 6. If it was going to be Watson or Caddy then that’s a bad deal.

Interesting move by the Cats. We've been hearing the top end is good but then it drops away a lot. Maybe they have a different opinion on that.
Cats are also absolutely shocking with their first round draftees. So many misses that it's amazing they managed to win a flag (seriously, look back over the last 10 years). They balance it out by being absolutely elite with later picks and rookies.

Be great if we ignore Freo's NGA in Edwards they would ignore Collard?
I don’t think we will be touching Edwards and if Freo take Collard they’ll miss Edwards given their draft hand so I’d be surprised if it’s an issue. Surely the WA list managers don’t try and f**k each other over in this regard?

Pardon the intrusion.

Would it change your mind if NM gave WC a private undertaking they were taking Watson at 3, meaning you’d get Kerch and then either Sanders or Curtin?
A deal that gets us McKercher and Curtin/Sanders I’d hope we are taking 10 times out of 10.

Always been the price that people on here were happy with, it’s just it was expected Curtin and Kerch go 2 and 3 (hence 2+3 being the f*ck off price).

If what you are saying eventuates I don’t think you’d find too many on this board disappointed. Maybe a lot of what ifs given we’re handing over a potential superstar, but trading for the two best pure mids is a win win no matter what.

Ok a while back mentioned Brander was playing this weekend. Would provide update on his defensive wing development in the minor comps.

Well.......unsurprisingly things didnt go well Friday night. Crocs lost in West Coast style 38 to 127. Well almost WC style.

Brander started at FF. Got a nasty head knock first quarter , went off with blood rule and didnt come back on.

My son confirmed he's ok, Saturday night rehydrating on the town on the dance floor.

Another tidy bit of business might be to offer GCS pick 20 and our F2 for pick 10 once they acquire it from bulldogs. That would give us at least one of Murphy/Windsor/Wilson. GCS will love it because pick 20 will actually be worth pick 20 when Walter is bid on (not by us of course) or they can split it again and they will also get some draft capital for their academy next year. I’d be very happy turning what will be pick 28 and probably pick 28 again next year into one of those kids.

I'm glad we're being proactive but given the evenness of the draft and unknown of 2024 would 20, F2 and 41 be more value

Given the likely top 7 excluding NGA does that mean we rate the top 7 and happy to take the slider

Ried, McKercher, Watson, Duursma, Sanders, Curtin, OSullivan

My gut says we're hoping for OSullivan or Curtin

And trade ins and free agent hunting.

If we come last it’s way overs in terms of what we are used to but with the pick 4 fiasco and potentially pick 1 Reid hype clubs might get stuck in and value these earlier picks way higher. I would do that deal in a second, Mackie said in an interview that they were looking at this years second round and getting multiple seconds for 7 not future 1sts as some have suggested

Wow you're not wrong, I had a look thinking "surely not" - Cooper Stephens, Jordan Clark, Darcy Lang, Cockatoo, Jackson Thurlow, Billy Smedts makes us look elite in that range by comparison.

You're right about them being amazing later on - I also feel like their trade targets always seem to come in with such a specific, clear role as to why they were brought in that they get that performance they were after right away.

We seem to sometimes be bringing players in because they're talented, want to come home and would be nice to have but take a few seasons actually settling them into their role in the side. Not as astute as the Cats in that regard - they're very decisive which probably helps with the late picks too.

Jed Walter asked Harley if he had booked his flights yet on his latest Instagram post lol.

Harley also liked a comment from someone saying he’s a future Geelong hall of famer… trade him for a 4th round pick.

Any 18 year old would want to play for the club they grew up supporting. Like most other interstate players we draft he'll come West and end up loving it and more than likely stay.
