I like that Apex looks a sound deal for all three clubs Rosa the "steak knives" with pick 10 for suns port cough up their first rounder and ah chee to get their key forward theyve been after and we swap out rosa for ah chee who looks a promising type, bundle picks to a club who needs points for academy players for a pick that would hopefully allow us to land his brother
Surely you're having a laugh? There's no way Port would ever go for this deal.

I don't accually see ah Chee best 22 in a fully fit port side or eagles but good depth

Realistically we are only using 2 draft picks . Rosa for an ahee may actually be better that rosa for a speculative pick 30ish .
Or we just keep rosa
Could you see him breaking into our side eventually or would he perpetually be a fringe player?
Still reckon we'll do something like Rosa for Giles with Essendon.

Dumb question, but can we actually trade the Selwood compo pick? Hypothetically, if we were to sign a FA, wouldn't we lose it?
Yep can be traded. I assume all trades are not 100% complete until the trade period is over even though paperwork has been lodged by all parties. That way the AFL can stop things like this from occurring.

Would prefer to stay here but wants to play footy and was offered a guaranteed deal elsewhere so he made the choice to leave.
I would prefer him to stay too. Loved the big fella .. Always gave his all. Became a bit of a cult figure, he did.
Happy to have Jetta, just a shame to lose sinkers. Wish him all the best.

Could see something like Colledge, Rosa + 36 for Giles + 23 if Woosh wants them both. (Essentially Colledge for Giles, and Rosa + 36 for 23)

Not sure if GC need bidding points or not, but could then potentially entice them with 23+57 for 19.

Well, I think we need to do something quickly with Colledge , Rosa and picks 37 and 38.
If these 2 go we will be replacing 8 players on our list and we don't want to be using picks 54 and 72.

I would assume that particular pick won't be able to be traded until the Free Agency period finishes, which IIRC is next Monday (can someone please confirm as I'm too lazy to check?). Once it's confirmed that we definitely get the pick, it'll be able to be traded as the Trade Period runs until 5pm EDT next Thursday.

Finishes on the 22nd I believe, but I'm too lazy to double check as well

Yeah I thought that was the case too. Would love to see the actual quote in context.
Shooter did have his best WAFL season playing a fair bit of ruck, so I'm guessing he brings it up. I'd be confident in him beating Griffen/Clarke in a ruck contest... Still, he's best as CHF.

Would love it if Rosa, Colledge and the 2nd round picks can somehow get us a 1st round pick or so. Hope that we have enough ambition to get this done, but it might be too complex and headache inducing for Vozzo and co. So the most likely outcome will probably be a 3rd rounder for Rosa and a 4th rounder for Brant...:cry::cry:

I am not sure if anyone else has raised this, but I was listening to 3AW and they were saying Sam Grimley has been delisted by Hawthorn.

He is 199 cm and I believe he plays some ruck. He was also the VFL leading goal kicker the last two seasons. That is about all I know about him. Does anyone know more and would he be a suitable option for our backup ruck?

I do find it interesting that he has been delisted the year David Hale retires, would have thought they were in need of a forward/ruck (does this suggest he is not up to AFL?).

Gold Coast gain: Rosa, Pick 10
Gold Coast lose: Dixon

Port Adelaide gain: Dixon
Port Adelaide lose: Pick 10, Ah Chee

West Coast gain: Ah Chee
West Coast lose: Rosa
Please stop with the Ah Chee suggestions, he's not leaving Port just as he's starting to show the talent they always hoped he had. And he's certainly not going to be steak knives in the Dixon deal when pick 10 should be enough on its own.

How would you know? If you don't ask the question, you won't get anything.

Ah Chee was given one year, hardly a huge commitment by Port. We could offer him 2-3 years to get him on board.

Gold Coast have said they want more for Dixon and why wouldn't they? Big Forwards don't grow on trees and Freo just offered two first round picks for Sunshine. GWS wouldn't even accept that. Ah Chee is unlikely a first round pick in a straight swap, so this could easily be done if Gold Coast decided they really want Rosa and we pushed hard for Ah Chee against Port who are super keen to land their man in Dixon.

The fact that Ah Chee got a contract at all says he's not in their trade plans. I've not heard his name mentioned at all in trade week except in this thread where he crops up every second day. Also your scenario relies on GC preferring Rosa to Ah Chee and I don't see why they would.

Dixon is older than McCarthy, has had consistent injury problems and is out of contract. Pick 10 is about right.

Problem with getting big deals done early is trade week will become a bit boring now.

That's only if you assume the actual trading is the end game

I'd argue some of the most successful trading strategies have Involved doing diddly squat

Trading for trading sake is akin to a dentist pulling a tooth to be seemed to be doing something

If nothing else presents of value - the most exciting thing is to do nothing

O
I thought it was off the main list:

Out:
Sinclair
Selwood
Main
Waters
Rosa ??
Colledge ??

In:
Redden
Jetta
Newman (upgraded) ??
Giles ??

2 picks

Powell and Maginess were rookies, plus Newman's spot, so 3 rookie draft picks.

FWIW Trade Radio saying Giles to WC will be done in the next few days

Hmmm, where do you reckon he sits with them, likely to get a game this year or sit in the SANFL? Then again, either way knowing Port they'll want a first round pick or something
According to Trade Radio we've met with Giles from Essendon. Could be a straight swap for Colledge.

Did they specifically mention Colledge? Would be a great outcome if so

Probably both right. Technically trades aren't 100% complete as picks that have currently been traded might be pushed back due to the free agency picks awarded.
