I don't think people really have a problem with the players we got, I think they're both going to be great for us, but some people including myself think we should have gotten a bit more out of the trades, the Sinclair one in particular.

We get it. Lets just wait and see now shall we.

The Suns already have several first round picks and will get another, pick 10, for Dixon. Possibly something else.

The Suns are interested so I'd love to package Rosa + 38 to the Suns and get something back from them or Port. Suns send 38 to Port and we get Ah Chee would be very nice and something proposed earlier.

The Suns would be a good fit too, they need more mature players and leaders.

If we could somehow get pick 19 from the Suns from Rosa + 38 that would be a very nice outcome. A 19 place pick upgrade.:thumbsu:

Even a 3rd round from next years draft from the Suns would be good.
Has there been anything concrete about a club actually being interested in Rosa, I haven't read the trade pages etc the last couple of days? If a couple of clubs are keen we're more likely to get something decent for him.

I understand where people are coming from thinking we could have gotten more value for sinclair, but in my opinion we kind of did. This is probably the one time across the span of both Jetta and Sincalir's entire career span where we wouldn't have been laughed at for proposing a straight swap between the two players. In almost any other circumstance we would likely have had to throw in a fair bit more to get the deal over the line, which to me means we got pretty good value for sinkers, selling him at his highest point, whilst acquiring jetta at his lowest.

Wait and see what? We're not going to retroactively get something else out of the trade.
Hopefully we manage to score something good for Rosa, but I don't see us getting much.

Wait and see how good Jetta and Redden turn out and how Sinclair goes taking the first ruck role.

If Redden and Jetta help win us a flag next year and the Swans don't make the finals then the trade would be a massive win.

I agree completely with you that we got the better player out of the deal, I've been saying for ages (and got blasted for it on the previous incarnation of this thread) that we should trade Sinclair for a mid while his value is high. I just think that we had an extremely limited resource in a ruckman who can compete at AFL level and we could have got more value out of the trade as Sydney really needed one and there was not one other option anywhere else for them to target. We had the position of strength, and at the start of the week Vozzo basically said as much when he rejected the trade initially, but then 2 days later caved in.
Oh well, done is done, excited to see Redden and Jetta pull on the wings next year.

I have no doubts that they'll turn out good for us and I can't see Sinclair doing that well in the first ruck role, he was average rucking around the ground but he was particularly poor at centre square bounces I thought.

The way I see Rosa is he is worth a mid-thirties pick. How many players around that mark are busts? But with Rosa, you are guaranteed quality, with another 3 years service. A good get for anyone.

Considering we already have two mid thirties picks he is worth more than that to us. If that was all trading him could raise I would rather keep him. Should have been played in the GF before Masten, he's not flashy but he gets the job done. May not be in best 22 but he's in the best 25. We have spent a decade developing him into a good player. Should try and hold unless there is a very good deal, like Hawthorn with Anderson. Hawthorn are the top team because they win October as Clarkson said.

If we get a twenties pick for him I would be rapt.

In

Redden
Jetta
36
37
57

Out

Selwood
Sinclair
Colledge
Rosa
Waters
Main

So perhaps we might do:
- Colledge for Giles

What we then do with Rosa may influence what we do with Newman:
- get a pick we will use, then just use that pick and 36 and 37
- upgrade 36 or 37 as part of the Rosa deal (or trade in future pick) would mean we would use two live picks and upgrade Newman (or use (57)

Really don't want to lose Rosa. Sure, he might not be best 22, but he's next in line if there's an injury and capable of filling the void better than most.
Yes, agree. I would prefer to keep him too. Followed him closely, for what, eight years? He is a player I like a lot. Will be a loss to see him go, but if he should choose to do so, I hope we get something worthwhile in return. A twenties pick will be OK.

Yes from WC's perspective we would want to keep him as good depth. But that's exactly what Rosa does not want, its the very reason he asked to be traded in the first place.

Have to wonder whether it's wise to keep a player for a year and keeping do to him the very thing that upset him in the first place. If he is unhappy now he is going to be fuming by the the end of next year.

And this is why I don't understand people getting upset about trades, days after they are made. A players form line before a trade is what sets the price, while their form afterwards is what determines the trades true value (i.e. who wins or loses) and even that is subjective. Judd and Ebert felt like a reaming at the time, but now I am not so sure we lost out. Yeo felt like we overpayed but in hindsight we may end up with a player closer to Fyfe (not saying he is as good!) than we thought when we traded which is starting to feel more like a bargain. I am happy with getting Jetta and Redden but there are no guarantees it will succeed, nor that Sinclair will florish or fail at Sydney, but our team looks stronger already, on paper at least.

WA draft combine on today , I like Marlon Pickett as a rookie or late pick . Versatile type with great pace .

Others nominated by an AFL club to attend include -

Sam Menegola
Shane Yarran
Marcus Adams
Jared Bell ( Perth )
Marlon Pickett
Josh Branchi
Darcy Cameron
Shane McAdam
Francis Watson
Nathan Broad
Jimmy Miller

Jimmy Miller is an 18 yr old from Exmouth playing for Hale School in the Public Schools Competition . Miller played one colts game at SF and at 194cm is the smokie of the WA combine .
Fremantle believed to have interviewed Miller last month and suspicions that Fremantle and Hale coach Jason Norrish are trying to hide the young tall !!

Dispicable !
