Funny how unpopular he was at one stage, now we’d be f’d without him.
Love him as a player but his laconic playing style (much like Mark Waugh batting) irks me when he turns the ball over or when he gets caught because it looks as if he doesn't give a hoot (know its not true). He more than anyone has stabilised us down back this year. It concerns me that he hasn't re-signed. Is it club or player?

I disagree.

I subscribe to theory that your KPP's need to be more than just makeshift. Richmond are light on for talls, but they have the Coleman medallist at one end, and the AA full back at the other. West Coast is another example with Kennedy and McGovern. There's no coincidence they are 1st and 2nd on the ladder.

It's where I think we'll fall short this year. We just aren't solid enough in the key stocks. It's why we have beat all the non-finallists, but only 1 finalist. Our midfield is good enough to win games on its own and keep us in the hunt. But we need that extra strength in our tall stocks to go the next step. it showed in the first final where in the last quarter Kennedy was able to step up and kick 2 goals. We just didn't have a tall that was capable of taking the game by the scruff of the neck.

While it would be handy to add someone like Hombsch to the list for depth, I think we need to go all out to get the AA quality full back, as opposed to loading up on average players. Or alternatively making a big play for a power forward

I say pay the price.

But I also think we need to be keeping Moore.
Even if this theory was correct (I think it's debatable), May is not not on the same planet as players like Kennedy, McGovern and Rance who would deserve a premium price at the trade table. As a player May doesn't justify overpaying for imo.

I like the Mark Waugh analogy except Langdon isn’t as sweet a player like say Hoskin-Elliot

But I remember him as being not very strong or physical and playing chb in much the same way as Shaz, Howe or Langdon do. Has he changed in this regard?
might be thinking of Finlayson, he is pretty much a tall flanker.

Tomlinson is a strong CHB.

Agree, May at best is the next level down from those players. IMHO, 2x 1st round picks is way overs unless he's coming with a couple of their 2nd and/or 3rd round picks to balance the points ledger.

It comes from anywhere and every one.
Started with Lynch, and it will ramp up by the amount of guessing they do.
Like last year l hope we just go to the draft.

I know he played mainly as a defensive forward at Melbourne but would he have the potential to play as a rebounding defender (with less pace) to replace Murray?

I can't recall where he played in his GWS days. Wonder if he is mates with Treloar, Adams or WHE?

I would rather Brandon Ellis from Richmond as a rebounding defender.

IIRC Langdons last contract was done at the very last minute. I don't think there is anything sinister in the fact that it hasn't been done yet

I think he was a defender at GWS

I think we need a lockdown small defender to release Maynard so Bugg may not be bad for a cheap option.

I think Bugg and Ellis would be two good option if they are cheap. They add something to our side. Even though Bugg seems like a bit of a flog I think he’s ready to redeem himself, maybe at another club will help him.

Bugg would be a tagging option. I know they're not popular but it's important to have a few players that can do defensive roles. I don't know enough about Bugg to know if he has enough game to go with his tagging to make him a good target. But it could be we're freeing up Greenwoods cap space and bringing in a younger replacement.
