KK from GC would be another nice addition off half back and would really compliment our outside run and game- an area I feel we can still get better at.

Jake Lloyd I don't see leaving.

I do for big money from GC/Blues

May is being embarrassed by Reiwoldt.

It's interesting how much impact the pressure up the field has on the performances of the key backs. May was left exposed badly. But I don't reckon that would happen in a decent side. It makes me respect the full backs of yester-year that much more.

Jake Kelly worth a look?

Great last year and currently out of form and their current best 22. Could be a good option with our defensive stocks suffering a blow till mid-late next year (Scharenberg/Dunn).

Would rather get Hore. Cheaper, just as good, and won’t cost anything significant at the draft, most likely rookie.

Agree to a point but at times he wasnt even in the frame.

Given the form and composition of our midfield, I'd be in favour of the club having a good look at Aaron Hall.

We have a good mix of mids capable of winning the ball, however aside from Treloar I think we lack mids with burst speed who are capable of carrying the ball from stoppages. Hall would go some way to filling that need, whilst also allowing Stephenson the luxury of another season predominantly forward.

For me our priorities should be focussed on Lynch, speed in the midfield (particularly given the recent emergence of Sier) and finding a key back or two.

In relation to the key back, established players from the VFL, WAFL, SANFL etc. are likely to be able to do a job holding down an opposition key forward, provided they have the right body size/presence. If he's available, Stephen May would be a great addition, however I don't think he should be prioritised over Lynch or pacy mids.

Some more pace in midfield is definitely a need. Aaron Hall is a good suggestion if we can iron out his flaws. He is a one way runner and can be reluctant to put his body on the line. If we are confident we can lift his professionalism and defensive work rate i'd be happy for us to recruit him. But that's a big if. His talent is there.

Pass.
If we are going after mids I'd rather return Beams.

One way runners aren't ideal, however I can see someone like Hall flourishing under a more cohesive unit. His offensive capabilities are, in my opinion, good enough to overcome his defensive capabilities.

The other options for midfield pace seem a little thin on the ground, unless we trade for someone. It's difficult to see who we would trade with in order to bring some pace in, or what we would have to give up.

Here is the list of some players that are out of contract this year. Some may have already re-signed. Is there any players that we should chase?. I have included links their stats for reference.

Laverde and Goddard are two that were highly rated juniors, if we didn't have such a big injury list I wouldn't mind grabbing one of them if we could get them on the cheap.

Because of our continuously horrid injury list I am gun shy about recruiting players that are regularly injured. Hall is one of those players. He has missed 14 games through injury this year, firstly with a finger injury then the past 10 weeks with a pectoral tear. Last year it was a hamstring, 2016 it was 5 weeks with a hamstring, 2015 it was 7 weeks with a hamstring. Has played 103 of a possible 154 games.

There were huge wraps on him in his draft year, however he has not lived up to any of the hype.

From what I have heard Essendon is concerned about his attitude and lack of professionalism when it comes to his rehabilitation. I don't think he will be at Essendon next year. Last year he missed all but the last 5 weeks because of an ankle injury that required surgery. This year he injured his hamstring in a practice game in Feb and missed 8 weeks, came back for 4 weeks and suffered a further hamstring injury and then hasn't played since Round 11.

We can also live trade to gather more points.
Trade our 3rd round picks for later picks with more points.
Example...we trade out pick 48 for picks 52 & 58??
We end up with more points to bid for IQ & Kelly.

I thought they'd changed the system around using lots of late picks so that now you match with your next pick or that pick and a deficit on the following years pick.
