If he decides to go, surely no one else would be able to offer anything close to what we should be able to ???
If the Doggies can afford to pay Boyd 99.5% of their salary,Fair few could afford Ollie apart from us.
Melbourne(Always dips their toes in).
Hawks.(Maybe not as much at the start but success is always a huge carrot,Then once Hodge.Mitchell & Co retire).
Are the 2 main threats IMO.

I'd say getting to a prelim should be enough to land a gun player, not necessarily win one
Although if Port also make a prelim then maybe it will be a bit tougher to get Wines across
I don't think Port will be able to match what other clubs are offering though. I would happily throw $1m at him. He's the best young midfielder in the competition and oozes leadership. He's basically everything we need.

Recent Adelaide weather is helping our cause

True, although with the expected salary cap rise from the new TV deal in 2017 they will still be able to offer a big deal. That's why success may come into it first. If he feels that they are on the verge of success at Port then he may be loyal and stay for less money.

I hope we resign key players early in the season then see what is left to offer Wines, we have a few who will probably deserve pay rises, although given we were offering some big bucks around this recent trade period, it should leave us with something like $1m to throw around if needed. Under the old salary cap I'd be offering about $800-850k, but with the pending increase $1m is probably reasonable.
