Big difference between us and North when they nuked the list, they were middle of the road, had achieved nothing and had a heap of guys they knew couldn't take them forward.

Our list has a tonne of players with question marks on them as well as some real quality that may leave but we will get adequately compensated for them (in theory). If Baker, Rioli, Bolton go, we will finish bottom 2 for probably a couple of years like North however we will have no doubt brought a few talented players in (as opposed to filling out the spots with third and fourth round picks, recycled players like Menadue).

We are in the Hawthorn spot right now in the post flag era. We really really need to nail this draft and we will see in 2-3 years the benefits of this. We were all happy when Lynch and Prestia came to us, it's the system working since we were a destination club then but are now the opposite.

The Hopper and Taranto deals are so out of place now too because they were brought in to reload and by the time we actually do reload they will be near the end of their contracts.

Yeah Taranto and Hopper aren't going to be keeping us in contention like they were brought in to do, but they're actually still vital to our rebuild because they'll protect the kids and allow them to be injected into the midfield when they're ready.

Without those two we'd be totally non-competitve in most games next year and probably wouldn't have the luxury of offloading more valuable players like Bolton and Rioli.

We had a bob each way with TT and Hoops. A Last Dance ping at the 23 flag, but also in the knowledge we're desperately short of senior bodies in their age group to sustain the team once we were out of contention.
They're certainly not going to waste. Our midfield would be Prestia, McAuliffe, Dow, Sonsie, pick #1 next year 😆

If Rioli, Bolton, Baker and Graham all leave this year we're going to have about $3mill in cap space become free. That's a hell of a spending spree during next years free agency window, plus could use it next year to pay off a big chunk of Hopper and Tarantos deals and front-end Baltas new contract to really set us up for the mdium to long term.

So apparently we get
Pick1
Pick 6
Pick 7
Pick 10
Pick 13
Pick 14
Pick 15
And 22 f.a compo
Wouldn't even know what to do with them all lol

I've got it come end of year (good old ladder predictor lol) 1,6,9,10,15,17,20,21,22 assuming we get Brissy's pick.

Give Balta a nice signing bonus lol

Draft 6 guns in the top 20 or so, then bring in 3-4 elite FA's, rebuild done. Its that easy, next.

why have we been playing baker forward and driving his value down ? he has been a spud this season

if we played him back we couldve got heaps more for him
Think teams in the west already know Bakes’s value. Don’t believe a couple of down games will make any difference tbh…

Yeh we will front load the contracts of Taranto, Hopper and Balta, we may even pay some of Rioli and Boltons salaries to get better picks like we did with Deledio

Everyone's jumping off the Titanic as it nears the inevitable collision with the iceberg.
us plebs are left to enjoy watching the wreckage!
I'm waiting for GC to entice us all with nice apartments on the ocean to be GC fans.

Surely if we ended up with that you’re bundling a few picks for next years draft.

Take 1,6,9 10, 15 this year then bundle

17 & 20
21 & 22

And get some future picks for next years draft.

Pick 7 10 and 13 plus next years first from freo
For shai liam and next years 2nd round pick
Pick 6 and 14 from Suns for Daniel
Pick 15 from Brisbane for our late picks
And pick 22 Graham compo
7 pick in top 15
Trade 21 and 22 for picks next year
We should end up another 5 picks in top 30 next year

Exactly. North sacked a heap of senior players around 2016 from memory. The difference between their position and ours is that they didn't have multiple first round picks until around 2020. In fact, in 2019 their first pick of that draft wasn't until pick 31.

We are in a very unique position - One would think Baker is almost one foot out the door. If Bolton and Rioli also want to move on, do we stand firm and back ourselves in to rebound or do we wish them the best and gain multiple early picks for both 2024 and 2025 drafts (potentially even 2026 draft if we are smart and push picks back).

If all 3 end up leaving, we could possibly have 4-5 first round picks this year and another 3-4 next year. No doubt if these trades went down, we would be bottom 4 for the next few years but we would also be light years ahead in terms of list regeneration of where North were at the end of 2016.
