Personally I think Trading Bolton would be a mistake but if we do intend on absolutely loading up this year I can see the logic

Going to be interesting either way

So now the question is who do we delist to free up the extra spots to take the picks we could be gaining?

If we remove Baker Bolton & Daniel, that's 3 spots. Grimes & Naismith retired makes 5.

That leaves Prestia Martin Graham Smith McIntosh Pickett Maurice Cumberland Green & Dow as senior listed players currently without contracts for next year, with Prestia reportedly going on in 2025.

For mine I'd go Martin(retired) McIntosh Pickett Cumberland.

That would give us a senior core of 12 to buid around:
Vlastuin
Prestia
Ross
Taranto
Short
Lynch
Koschitzke
Balta
Hopper
Nankervis
Graham
Broad

Yeah, why not? I get all the reasons and there’s plenty of them, but as long as it’s taking guys who we’ve prioritised rather than just greedily loading up because you can I don’t really care how many.

Seems like an unprecedented draft. Might as well grab all our favourites
As I’ve said previously on here a few times is that teams have shied away from the idea of investing heavily into numerous first round picks in one draft because of the log jam it can potentially create in salary cap.

I am concerned about putting our eggs in to one draft. Everyone knows you don’t build a premiership list from 1 draft.

You are lucky to nail 2 or 3 picks from the same draft. Here is our history of our premiership team from drafts

2004

Deledio (traded to GWS)

2005- Bust

2006

Riewoldt, Edwards

2007

Cotchin, Rance

2008- BUST

2009

Dusty, Astbury, Grimes (Rookie)

2010

Houli, Grigg trade

2011

Ellis

2012

Vlastuin, McInosh

2013 -Bust

2014

Butler. Short, Lambert, Soldo, Castagna all Rookies

2015

Rioli, Broad,

2016

Bolton, Graham, Stengle (Cats Premership) Nank, Prestia, Caddy (trades)

2017

Higgins, Balta. Baker (Rookie)

2018

Ross
I agree with you but i think this draft is different. Its a very deep draft and i think if we had 5 top 20 picks theres a good chance they all make it. They might not all be stars but they dont have to be.

Do think it's time to take a calculated risk and go deep into the draft.
we have to make moves before Tassy comes in, This is a big bold start to setting ourself up for the future

This is the game cleve Hughes kicked 6 goals in. I remember being very excited by him
that port jumper was a million times better than the trash they have now

We may as well get rid of everyone; Baker, Bolton, Rioli

Just absolutely load up and go again. If two of those go, three going doesn't make a difference.

gut the list, go full Norf

difference is that we can get 5 picks inside the first round in a draft that has potential to be a superdraft.

if ever there was a time to do it, its now. by the time the tassie draft comes around it'll be too late
Agreed. Lets just go for it.

Curious to see how the exercise would look.

Baker and Bolton to Freo for 7, 12 and 16.
Rioli to GC for 6 and 20.
Graham to SA for pick 22 (compo).
Later picks to Brisbane for 17.

Leaves us with 1, 6, 7, 12, 16, 17, 20, 21 and 22.

#1 - Richmond - Sid Draper
#2 - West Coast - Finn O’Sullivan
#3 - Brisbane - Levi Ashcroft - Matched NM bid
#4 - NM - Luke Trainor
#5 - Adelaide - Toby Travaglia
#6 - St.Kilda - Josh Smilie
#7 - Richmond - Sam Lalor
#8 - Richmond - Jagga Smith

#9 - GC - Leo Lombard - Matched Melb bid
#10 - Melbourne - Harry Armstrong
#11 - Essendon - Xavier Lindsay
#12 - West Coast - Bo Allan (Hawks pick for Barrass trade)
#13 - Essendon - Isaac Kako - Matched Rich bid
#14 - Richmond - Harvey Langford
#15 - Geelong - Jack Whitlock
#16 - GWS - Murphy Reid
#17 - Carlton - Cooper Hynes
#18 - Richmond - Joe Berry
#19- Richmond - Tom Gross

#20 - Sydney - Matt Whitlock
#21 - Sydney - Christian Moraes
#22 - Richmond - Jobe Shanahan

Rd 2
#23 - Richmond - Thomas Simms/Jonty Faull
#24 - Richmond - Taj Hotton

Would cause some serious contract chaos in 2026-27

Pretty sad when one of the players your building around is Kozi.

We are getting all excited about nothing, our club will say no. Only players leaving will be Baker and Dusty.

Massive opportunity wasted.
Reckon the club leaked to Twomey to get our reaction.
