Can’t believe we’re not in the conversation for 2m Peter and will Brodie! FFS we could fill a couple of needs that are ready made! The window will be closed in 2 years. If Lynch goes down we’re screwed!
It’s because both players are over paid 2’s players. If Lynch goes down of course we’ll struggle, like every side would struggle if they lost a KPF. We have to rely on CCJ, Chol and Caddy to cover the lose we can’t afford anyone else.

It's not that massive. He worked really hard during 2017. He was tailing off in 2018 before injury, getting what people might call cheap footy.

I'm saying watch 2021 and report back - two in a row will be a surprise.

He kicked multiple goals in four of his final six games in 2018 while kicking one against in half a game against Adelaide before going down with injury and essentially missing the rest of the season.

Same thing happened this year as 2018. AA quality first half of the year, dropped to the seconds to regain form second half of the year (Saints didn’t drop him, we would’ve imo)

He didn't get dropped and he most certainly wouldn't have been dropped this year had he been playing for us. He might not have been kicking multiple goals in the back half of this season but he was still heavily involved in anything Saints scoring chains.

He doesn't want to play ruck.
Why get a bloke as ruck back up who doesn't want to play ruck.
Because he’s a capable key forward that can ruck if required and will provide cover for us in two positions that we are vulnerable in if we suffer injuries. And he would be coming relatively cheap with GC covering a chunk of his wages.
He has a tank and importantly is physical, jumps at the footy and isn’t moved easily. Traits we all were screaming for from an out of form Chol late in the season just gone.

I don’t buy the story that he won’t play ruck. His best form has had him in that 90%forward-10%ruck role.

Lynch’s best year before becoming a tiger came with Wright as his wingman. Wright kicked 30 odd two years in a row playing CHF to Lynch at FF.
Lynch said he learnt so much about playing key forward when he arrived at Richmond because they had no one at GC showing him anything like what Riewoldt & co could. Until then he had just relied on natural ability. This would suggest there is plenty of development left in Wright as well.

We are talking about a late 3rd- 4th round pick being used here.

here’s a good read on Wright:

So what?
Surely Lynch would have put a good word in yet we are not interested.
Better off backing our own in than chasing spuds.

Not sure that 2m Peter is a better player than Chol or CCJ so what's the point. Everyone worried about ruck sitch but we get CCJ back in 5 games don't we? That was the beauty of losing first final.
I’d argue on exposed form he has shown more than Chol and CCJ is an unknown to this point. Its about depth and coverage.

Anyway, the club isn’t keen clearly so they’re comfortable And certainly know more than me about it.

I love Butler, but we saw why he would certainly have been dropped if at RFC this year during that semifinal. When Cotch was running the ball out of D-50 and Butler just stopped instead of chasing him out.

Dimma's rule no.1: Only Dusty is allowed to not run defensively

You don’t go for depth players that cost $500,000+, you don’t even bring in depth players on $350,000. It’s not how our club roll. It’s why our list has a full compliment of rookies and a lot of first and second year players. The players third years+ are either developing and not AFL tried or inexpensive depth. It’s how we can afford both Dusty and Lynch’s contracts (plus the Riewoldt, Rance, Cotch and Prestia contracts), by having a bunch of guys below the AFL average salary.

Gotta say I trust the club whole heartedly to know what it’s doing when it comes to this stuff. Unlike the Pies 😎

He so would of been dropped if he played for us lol. I watched a lot of Saints games and the amount of times I saw Butler either half ass the chasing/pressure or not chase at all was crazy, we would of absolutely rightfully dropped him to the two’s.

I just love this bit ‘He might not have been kicking multiple goals in the back half of this season but he was still heavily involved in anything Saints scoring chains.’ My god the amount of times George and Rioli have been railed and called to be dropped for doing exactly this 😂 My god. I’m done.

Yeah, can’t believe we’re not in the conversation for 2 players who can’t even crack GOLD COASTS best 22 🙀

Have you actually watched them play? Being a high draft pick does not automatically make you a good player.

Im all for trading to strengthen our best 22 - however Brodie and 2MPeter do not do that. They’re depth, and I’d rather back RCD > Brodie and CCJ > 2MP.

Certainly wouldn't be blackening any contracts that's for sure...
Massively damaging for that reason. IMO Goodbye luring decent players including free agents...

Consider his player manager's company represent no less 54 players from 17 afl teams and have well respected and well linked in guys like Michael Nettlefold, Simon Black and Daniel Merrett who work for them. What would they be thinking?

What about other players and player managers?

Don’t disagree re list management. The club is doing a great job.
When Jack goes at the end of 2021 (Likely?) we may have a problem though. Need a plug in replacement. A 350k CHF that’s good for 30 odd Goals + a year might not look too shabby. If Nank goes down early in 2021 we have a problem that Chol is not the answer for. CCJ hasn’t played a game. It’s a risk.

350k isn’t a huge sum. I obviously rate Wright a little higher than most, including the club lol
