I can see something like this getting Gold Coasts first round pick, trading guys like graham and soldo for 2nd or 3rd round picks, then collating picks to give the suns the neccesary points to pick up all three academy guys. Then trading them our future first and getting back gold coasts future second round pick/s, we have to give up the future first in order to get the pick, otherwise there is no incentive for gold coast to trade with us as opposed to other clubs who could offer all their later picks for points matching. I think list management are pretty bullish on our list still, and with a hopefully healthy lynch we should be better than this year and some of the close losses become wins
If Dimma is appointed coach of the suns he may actually want Soldo
Witts is 30 and they have no backup apart from a couple of VFL Rookies

Just done a quick ladder predictor just tipping favourites or homes teams where it is tight.

I have us in the coveted 9th spot and Suns 14th. It probably finishes nothing like that but just to sort of give a vague starting point for some calculations.

Before free agency comp, priority picks and father-sons and acadamy selections that would mean:

Suns start with picks 5, 26(tied to GWS) 31(courtesy of previous pick swap with Crows) and several other lower picks.

Richmond would have picks 28 and 46 and 64. These might all be pushed back a couple of places at the point GCS would be using them as points. So let's say 30 49 67. This would amount to about 1000 points max.

There is every chance North and Eagles release Free Agents for compo picks that will be inserted into the top 4 pushing everything below that down 2 picks.

So the Suns first pick in that case would likely be pick about 7. That is worth 1644 points. They would probably command about 2000 points value in return or some other items of value to them.

So Richmond would have to be coughing up our 2024 first rounder you would think to entice Suns to do a deal based on draft picks alone.

Otherwise Tigers trade out players say for 2nd and or 3rd round picks to increase the 2023 draft points we could offer. I can't see us taking salary dump players. The only other possibility I could see is Dusty fancies a couple of years of sunny weather and we send him there with a good chunk of his salary paid in return for that pick. But that also seems a bit unlikely.

It will be very interesting to watch the wheeling and dealing around this.
Tell ya right now.No way Dusty will leave.
His best mate just past 300 games for the ONE club.
He'll want the same.

Said this about 10 weeks ago. If we are developing a new squad, I don't think Bolton is the type of player we need. He really is a cream on top player.

How old was Dusty when he exploded into the best player in the comp in 2017? Or
Neale when he won his Brownlow? Or Danger when he was best in comp across 2016?

But yeah, let’s trade out the guy who has more natural talent than basically anyone else in the comp the year before he’s likely to hit a 5-year peak…. and on the back of potentially back-to-back AA gongs ….

Give me a list of players to trade out and Bolton is literally last on that list.

That’s what I’m thinking , without breaking our bank reckon soldo provides some real currency , to lesser degree JG tho his form no favors ,,,hasn’t been dropped tho

I think we should be going all out for Georgiades (future 2nd) + one of McKay and Himmelberg as free agents.

Midfield sorted, KPPs sorted, HFF/HBF sorted. Then we can just draft for depth.
I don’t see why we would soak valuable cap space on key defender with balta and young very similar to McKay for 1/4 of price

Cos Grimes is just about cooked and Young is raw. Allows Gibcus to play CHF too.

In other news Treacy has re-signed for 3 years @ Freo.
Grimes role i expect to be filled by likes of brown or tresize not a hulking overpaid 6p a week defender . McKay ain’t grimes ,,,, at all

Young could be though. McKay would free up Balta which could see him become the biggest back half weapon in the league IMO. Like Rance was when Dave often took the gorillla forward. Brown and Trezise are replacements for Broad and Vlastuin IMO.

Grimes/Young, Broad, Vlastuin, Balta, McKay, Short, Rioli could be the best back 7 in the league next year. It wants for nothing. Lockdown tall, medium, running half back, interceptors etc etc.

You seen the contract ?
I actually know what it is but sadly it's not public knowledge so I can't share it. If it were $600k though, you know full well media would have been screaming it from the rooftops. He's a re-signed young player. All you need to do is ask yourself how many players you seen that sign their second contract at $600k/yr for two years?

Gibcus forward is the unknown . Young and Balta's performance this year have meant gibcus could play forward.
Lynch and Gibcus injury dragging on means we can't get an idea of them as KPF next year.
The current coach is still using 2 KPFs.
I don't know if HH in this year is a good idea. I'd rather watch Lynch and a combination of Ryan, Miller, Bauer, Gibcus.
Gibcus is a quality player so if it works then relief.
See how Lynch looks when he returns. His replacement is 2 years away?
Hopefully not a King.

If Dimma was to go to the Gold Coast then maybe Dusty would move north. The AFL would bend every rule to allow it to happen
I suspect that in reality the suns will trade their first pick for two first round picks and then we will trade our second and third for one of those picks. That could give us a pick in the low teens
